RUSH H. LIMBAUGH III: CAN HE GET ANY WORSE?

With all the right-wing crazies out there, the "Drugster" Limbaugh is still the "King of the Mob".

This last April, President Obama signed into law the Edward M. Kennedy Serve America Act, which gave federal authorization to establish Sept. 11 as the National Day of Service and Remembrance. All this came about after eight years of effort from volunteer-based groups and corporate projects across the country, all to honor the memory of those who died on Sept. 11.

On Friday, the eighth anniversary of this horrible tragedy, the president and the first lady acknowledged the first recognized day of this National Day of Service and Remembrance and the president gave a short speech when he placed a flowered wreath at the Pentagon in the memory of those who died at the Pentagon that day in 2001.

During the president´s speech, he said ; "We are marking this Sept. 11 as a National Day of Service and Remembrance. On this day, and every day, it is incumbent on each of us to uphold those ideals that our enemies were - and are - so eager to destroy." Basically what the president said was that those heroes who became the first responders to the catastrophe were dedicated to helping and to "serving others and giving back to their communities".

Unfortunately, on this solemn and sacred day for commemorating the loss of thousands of innocent Americans, the over-sized, radio talk show bully-and-blow-hard, "Rush Hudson Limbaugh III" decided on this 9/11 Friday anniversary to take a piece from the president´s short speech to attack the president. Per Limbaugh, this was President Obama´s day for being a fascist dictator and for declaring that it was now time for every American to dedicate themselves to "serving the state". (Limbaugh purposely had changed Obama´s word "communities" to serving the "state".)

Limbaugh then went on to declare that this "National Service Day" of Obama´s was one of the president´s worst ever responses to an American tragedy and that it was a blatant example of Obama´s intentions for turning the country into a "Hitler-like fascist dictatorship".

This is all very interesting and is in fact laughable because it was President George W. Bush, not President Obama, that called for 9/11 to become a "national day of service". In addition, 9/11 victims' families have long recommended making this date to be a "national day of service" in respect for those who gave their lives in the attack and those who selflessly tried to save those in the vast rubble of "Ground-Zero".

But ironically, even though it was President Bush that first requested the national service day for 9/11, the far-right bloggers have said that such a day of "service" would make the 9/11 date one of; "leftist celebration and idolatry"…….? I sure wish these guys would get their political causes straight.

As with those of us old enough to recall, most of us remember exactly where we were and what we were doing when we heard about the sudden deaths of JFK, RFK and possibly even Martin Luther King. The Twin Towers, the Pentagon and Flight 93 of 9/11 are those tragic "memories" for us today.

I personally remember when I saw that there were people, not debris falling from the towers. I remember how Battery Park and that area of Manhattan Island was virtually destroyed, and how other New Yorkers had taken-in those that had lost their homes and their loved ones. I remember how other people rushed to the scene for days and volunteered to help in any way they could and the fire-fighters who eventually came to help from all over the country.

I also remember when even some of our enemies declared that "We are all Americans" after the attack on the towers and their collapse. And it is still hard to forget that it was many months before the buildings of downtown Manhattan were finally clean again and not covered with a thick layer of dust from the many buildings that had collapsed at "Ground Zero".

As it was in the aftermath of the bombing of Pearl Harbor, I also remember how many young Americans after 9/11 immediately signed up for the military, even the famous ones like Pat Tillman, who signed up during a flourishing NFL career. I also remember that there were older Americans who tried to re-enlist in the military, but were turned away as being "too old". However, today they would be accepted back in, because the foreign wars have gone on for so long.

So after all of these memories, where does this blow-hard Limbaugh get off in making these accusations about our new President? Is Rush Limbaugh the expert on all that´s worth listening to? And just what are this man´s qualifications for having the gall to call the "President of the United States a fascist dictator"?

Let´s take a closer look at Mr. Rush Limbaugh the Third.

This is a man that flunked out of college and was declared 4F and unfit for military service. He has never done any kind of public service nor has he run for any public office. During the catastrophe of 9/11, Limbaugh was safe and sound sitting on his fat-ass in his studio in Florida. For years, Rush has passed himself off as some kind of current-events political expert. However, he has no official qualifications as a journalist nor as a professional news caster.

As to his personal life, that also has not been very positive as Rush was married and divorced three times and has no children, (that we know of).

Rush had once said on his program that prescription "drug abusers should be jailed and the key thrown away". However, shortly after making that statement, he was subsequently arrested and he admitted to being addicted to the prescription drugs oxycodone and hydrocodone. He was also later arrested for having a bottle of Viagra in his travel luggage. Unfortunately for Rush, the Viagra prescription bottle had someone else´s name on it.

As the self and publicly proclaimed, "King of Right-Wing Talk Radio", and with what is rightly stated as America´s largest conservative radio talk show audience, one would hope that what he offers his listeners has always been properly researched. Unfortunately, that´s not the case.

He has been criticized by both groups and individuals for major inaccuracies. Groups such as Fairness and Accuracy in Reporting (FAIR) have published many of Rush´s inaccuracies over the past 20 years. Even the new Minnesota Senator, and previous progressive talk show host, Senator Al Franken, wrote a best–selling book about Limbaugh´s inaccuracies called, "Rush Limbaugh is a Big Fat Idiot and Other Observations." (And Franken wasn´t sued by Limbaugh for the book or its content.) The not-for-profit organization; Media Matters for America, is a watch-dog group that has nailed Limbaugh multiple times with his inaccurate statements.

Even the Environmental Defense Fund, a report from Princeton University and two of Princeton´s endowed professors have been quoted as questioning 14 significant scientific facts that Limbaugh misrepresented in his book: The Way Things Ought to Be. The professors say that; "Rush Limbaugh allows his political bias to distort the truth about a whole range of important scientific issues."

And as recently as this year, James Rainey of the Los Angeles Times quoted Limbaugh as saying after the 2008 election of Barack Obama as the 44th American President, that Obama and the Democrats will "take your 401(k), put it in the Social Security Trust Fund." Not only untrue, but also a very stupid comment.

This is the man who also totally supported a Republican president who lied multiple times to the American public. (In a recent report from a non-profit fact checking service of the Christian Science Monitor, it stated that George W. Bush lied to the public 532 times in his speeches and recorded comments over his 8 years in office)

And Rush can also really get deep into his own fantasies.

As an example, when the Trade Center / Twin Towers were first attacked on Bill Clinton´s watch, President Clinton´s team and the CIA eventually found, arrested and put those terrorist in prison where they remain today.

However, according to Limbaugh, even though Bill Clinton had missed out on getting Osama bin Laden for the attack on the USS Cole, his team did warn the Bush administration about Osama.

President Bush then proceeded to ignore the warning from Clinton and he ignored his morning CIA briefing in August, just before the attack that had warned Bush about Osama´s goal for attacking the US mainland. The 9/11 attack then occurred on Bush´s watch. Today, somehow Rush Limbaugh says that the total blame for the 9/11 attack is all on President Bill Clinton for not catching and killing Osama…? This is still Rush´s claim even though right after the attack on the USS Cole, it had not yet been confirmed that the al Qaeda had a direct connection to the attack.

Now here we are, 8 years after the attack and the Bush / Cheney / CIA team also did not catch or kill Osama. Osama is still at large, as are his top-two, second-in-command insurgents, and per Rush Limbaugh; "It´s still all Bill Clinton´s fault".

And some people still wonder why the conservative Republican party is shrinking and becoming the party of "NO" and a party of the "far-right, conservative, wacko Republican fringe elements".

Rush Limbaugh may be making millions of dollars, but he and his buddies;, Sean Hannity, Glenn Beck, Bill O´Reilly and Sarah Palin are still the best things to happen for increasing the general support of the Democratic Party.

However, Rush is a very sad personal example of an individual who tries to represent himself as some kind of American icon. He has instead become the poster-boy in America for what NOT to become or to support.

Rush, based on how wrong and off-base you have been, please keep it up……
