Pomona Motor Vehicle Collision Injures 8 Including Deputies
The accident occurred in the vicinity of the Fairplex near McKinley and White Avenues at approximately 11:47 a.m.
The deputies were in their patrol vehicle traveling south on White Avenue and according to Pomona Police Stg. Mike Olivieri the Los Angeles County Sheriff´s vehicle collided with a red Honda Civic.
The other vehicles involved in the collision were turning into the Fairplex when the officer driving the patrol car lost control striking them. There were six vehicles involved in the collision and according to Sgt. Olivieri there were eight people that were transported to area hospitals with injuries including the two Los Angeles County Sheriff´s Office deputies.
According to a Los Angeles County Deputy that was at the scene of the accident taking photographs stated that both of the deputies involved in the collision sustained broken femurs.
Sgt. Olivieri said that this will be a complex collision to reconstruct that could take weeks to investigate and that the many witnesses to the crash will need to be interviewed a second time. The officer also stated that the Pomona Department Major Accidents Investigation Team is investigating the accident.
