Moro Rebels Dream of Incorrigible Rebellion

Jade Verde
IN BEHALF of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF), it's Communications Deputy Chairman predicted that the Philippine government will not be capable of terminating the communist-inspired National Democratic Front (NDF) and New People’s Army (NPA) in the Philippines.

He said "the CPP/NDF/NPA groups in the country had existed since the early part of the last century, and it would be impossible to end up a movement which is not only capable, but also well experienced in the art of revolution.”

This statement is obviously a desperate description of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo's mandate that the CPP/NPA/NDF insurgency is to be eradicated once and for all.

Like the hungry wolf who was incapable of reaching up for the ripened fruits, the deputy minister also stressed that "a military intervention is more of a problem rather than a solution."

But why the petty prediction in this time and situation in the country when a strong moral support from all sectors is direly needed? The specific deputy minister seems to be speaking in behalf of all the Moro terrorists who long to go unchecked by justice, and are capable of nothing but fire and destruction. Could he be one among them? Just asking.

WHEN WILL HE EVER LEARN?

Like the wolf who never tasted the ripened fruits, this deputy minister is actually innocent of the many lessons of history that military solution had effectively worked against the communist elements, to wit:

The deputy minister never had the chance to learn of the many times in history government troops stepped up security measures around large cities in the country, in very successful efforts to prevent possible attacks by communist rebels. Because of these security crackdowns, communist terrorists fled to heathen areas, and finally broke down into struggling splinter groups.

Certainly, communist terrorists have split into several factions, and it was so clear how many of these rebels the soldiers had closed in on and captured.

Ironically, only a few troops continue to be deployed in the mountains and jungles in the pursuit of the Mass Media-magnified rebels.

Moreover, the deputy minister never knew about the many instances of police and military tightenings of security around the commercial centers and regional outskirts in the affected areas of the country, while troops set up many strategic checkpoints in heightened alerts that eventually led to the series of captures of rebel groups.

Sadly, he never found the opportunity to discover that the Philippine military had continually pinpointed communist extremist criminals in regional jungles, moved in for attacks, and captured successfully. Of course it's still a game of hide and seek, but their world of rebellion is getting smaller and smaller every day.

Hilariously, he never knew that President Gloria Arroyo continues to deploy military troops on the islands and clears the areas of communist rebels.

Furthermore, he never knew the widely spread fact that Philippine government officials continue to receive new demands by fear-struck communist rebels to bring in negotiators and abandon the army's pursuit.

Finally, he never had the knowledge that, despite the desperate negotiations, security forces continuously and easily kill communist rebels who have the habit of taking home their dead and wounded comrades.

IMPOSSIBLE DREAM

Like the hungry wolf who was incapable of reaching up for the ripened fruits, will the MILF deputy minister cuddle up comfortable in the self-fabricated obsession that the Philippine government is incapable of handling and terminating terror groups in the Philippines? Will he continue to dream dreams of the emergence of incorrigible rebellion and terrorism in the country? Sipug!

What of intimidated communist leader Jose Maria Sison, the man who fled to a foreign country for fear of being legally jailed in his own country? Will each of his 'balls' continue to remain along each side of his 'Adam's apple'? And will he continue to sourgrape the fact that Philippine development projects in rural areas will surely lessen poverty in the provinces and prevent residents from joining the communist armed movements?

O what a waste of precious time dreaming impossible and incredible dreams. If these least-oriented leftist elements are knowledgeable enough to comprehend the country's current situation, they would surely decide to join hands in the task of making this nation greater for the benefit of the common tao. Sayang.
