How To Maximize Storage Space In Small Kitchen/Kitchens By Special Additions Inc Morris County, NJ
Often times our home size limits us to how large our kitchens can be. This is very frustrating for those of us who have a large family or enjoy entertaining, since we utilize our kitchen for so much more than simply cooking a meal. The kitchen is the heart of the home, we spend large amounts of time in the kitchen, cooking, eating, entertaining, doing homework, paying bills, you name it and the kitchen has hosted it. In this article we are going to focus on some helpful tips and suggestions that you should think about prior to purchasing your new kitchen.
• Pint size appliances for a pint size kitchen: Appliance manufacturers are getting better at making smaller-scaled appliances. There are 18" dishwashers, 20-24" ranges, and smaller refrigerators with the freezer drawer. By utilizing smaller appliances you gain more cabinet space for storage and still maintain the functionality of a regular size kitchen.
• Kitchen Islands: If your kitchen is wide enough you may be able to fit an island which allows for more storage while also giving you a lot more countertop space to work with. If your kitchen cannot fit a stationary island you may want to look into getting one on wheels so you can roll it into the kitchen when you need the extra workspace and you can tuck it away when you are having guests over and need the extra room. Some rolling islands even come with a flip-up counter that acts as an overhang, giving you more workable space while also doubling as a dining area. This could come in handy if you do not have the space for a dining table in your kitchen.
• Smaller sink = more workspace: When looking at sinks you will want to purchase a smaller size undermount sink. This will allow for more cabinet storage space to the right and left side of the sink and will also increase your countertop space. If you do choose to compromise on the smaller sink you can make up for some of the loss by getting one that is deeper.
• Glass doors: One simple way to make you kitchen appear larger is to use glass door accents. Just like a mirror can make a room look larger the glass doors will offer the same effect in your kitchen. It does not have to be clear glass; there are a lot of different glass options out there that will still provide your cabinets privacy while enhancing the look and feel of your small space.
