Be Thin By 2010: Easy Weight Loss Tips

Gail Davis
Over the next several months, follow these easy weight loss tips to help you be thin by 2010! Make 2009 the year that you take charge of your diet and your health—-it´s not too late! By following these easy weight loss tips, you can watch your numbers drop (scale, tape measure, cholesterol, blood sugar) and your overall wellness increase. Don´t wait until Monday; begin today so that you can usher in the New Year with a new you!

The first easy weight loss tip is to increase your daily activity by 30 minutes. Yes, exercise is the least popular activity for many overweight people, and yes, recent research shows that it may not get you thin on its own, but no one disputes the fact that you will look better after you lose weight if you exercise while you´re taking it off! Whatever you´re doing now, whether it´s nothing or 90 minutes a day, add an additional 30 minutes of daily activity between now and the end of this year. Remember that what you do is unimportant—just move and huff and puff!

The next most significant thing you can do to encourage weight loss is to eliminate as much sugar as possible from your diet. If you have a sweet tooth, it is probably keeping you from reaching your goal. Sweets are empty calories—there´s nothing nutritionally positive about them! For the next several months, satisfy your sweet tooth with fruit. Expect the first few days to be tough, but you´ll notice how much better you look and feel in no time.

While we´re on the subject of sweets, eat your recommended daily servings of good, complex carbohydrates such as whole grain bread, brown rice, and whole-wheat pasta, but avoid the simple carbohydrates. Made up mostly of "sweets" they sabotage your diet and ruin your complexion!

Between now and the end of the year, vow to eat your calories and not drink them! This easy weight loss tip is of major importance when you´re cutting back on your daily caloric intake. By wasting calories in drinks, you may not have enough calories left to get in all your nutrient-rich foods. Water of course, is the best thing you can drink, for your weight loss and your skin.

Finally, to be thin by 2010, you must not only watch your daily caloric consumption, but more importantly, you must be careful of how many calories you consume at one time! Our bodies are amazing machines, but they can only process so much at once. Eating most of your calories in one sitting is going to impede your weight loss.

Eat three, highly nutritious meals a day and two nutrient-rich snacks. Make sure that each meal is less than 400-500 calories and each snack is less than 100-200 calories. Where you fall within those numbers should depend on your size and activity level. By following this formula, your body will be regularly fueled and able to fully process the food without having to store the excess as fat! Healthier foods encourage efficient metabolisms, so make wise choices!

Follow these quick and easy weight loss tips over the next several months and watch, as your goal becomes a reality instead of a dream. It is within your power to be thin by 2010! Go for it!
