Bono Mack: Expansion of Local Business Brings New Jobs and Technological Advancement
MURRIETA, CA – Emphasizing the benefits of job creation in the community and advanced technology that is enhancing U.S. national security capabilities, Congresswoman Mary Bono Mack (CA-45) today praised the expansion of a local high-tech company, Exotic Electro-Optics, Inc. (EEO) at its ground-breaking of a new facility that will support large sapphire window fabrication used on programs for Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) applications. The facility, which is targeted to be fully operational within the next 12 months, will create new high-tech jobs and will continue to help expand U.S. military and aerospace capabilities.
"This is an exciting expansion of a local business that will bring new jobs and new opportunities to our community," said Bono Mack. "Exotic Electro-Optics is an innovative and dynamic company that is using new technologies to transform our defense capabilities and enhance our national security, and in the process, it provides hundreds of jobs for our community and contributes significantly to our local economy. I am honored to celebrate this ground-breaking with so many members of our community, and I look forward to the continued growth and advancement of this outstanding company that is offering so many benefits to both our region and our nation."
Bono Mack notes that already, EEO employs around 165 individuals and plans to grow to over 250 employees within the next five years. The 24,000 square foot facility was designed with Lean manufacturing principles and will increase EEO´s capacity for large sapphire window fabrication by 400%.
"This expansion signifies Exotic Electro-Optics long-term commitment to the ISR market and the community," said EEO General Manager Mark Maiberger. "Our sapphire business alone has created 15 additional jobs in the community over the last 5 years and will create 50-75 more highly skilled engineering and technical positions in the coming years."
This facility expansion is adjacent to EEO´s existing 62,000 square foot facility, which provides optics and optical assemblies for enhanced visibility through infrared applications in the ISR market for terrestrial, airborne, space and un-manned systems.
