Youth Frontiers, Inc. Joins the Arizona Department of Education' s List of State-Approved Vendors
PHOENIX, AZ -- Youth Frontiers, Inc., one of the nation's leading organizations committed to improving school communities through character development, is now a state-approved vendor whose programs qualify for grant funding through the Arizona Department of Education.
"Youth Frontiers is not just another program out there to send the message of respect, courage, and kindness. . . It is about taking a day to begin establishing relationships of trust and caring among students and staff. It is about a day filled with powerful messages woven into a time of music, dance and fun. Messages that can change a person's character and life forever," said Nancy Branch, former principal of Kyrene del Milenio Elementary school. Youth Frontiers conducted its Kindness Retreat, designed for 4th and 5th grade students, at Kyrene del Milenio, for the past two years.
The Arizona Department of Education anticipates awarding up to $200,000 for programs in the current school year. Schools interested in bringing a Youth Frontiers retreat program to their campus can now apply for grant funding through the Arizona Department of Education's Character Education matching grant program. Applications are due September 30th.
This school year Youth Frontiers will work with forty-five schools from districts across the Valley, including Scottsdale Unified, Peoria Unified, Fountain Hills, Chandler Unified, Pendergast, Deer Valley Unified, and Kyrene. Upcoming retreats are scheduled for September, October, and November.
Founded in 1987 and based in Minneapolis, Minn., Youth Frontiers, Inc. is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization that supports schools' efforts to develop both smart and good kids. The nonprofit aims to change the way young people treat each other in every hallway, lunch line, and classroom of every school in America so that today's young people can make tomorrow's world better.
