We, The "Radical" People...
So, as they say, "if you canīt beat īem, join īem." If "radical" is in...then hereīs my radical fighting shape on some of the issues!
Politics: Several years ago I sent the Republican Party about $40.00. Thought Iīd help the cause. Over the next year, I received letters, phone calls, autographed colored 8x10 pictures, brochures, flyers, badges, plastic cards, stickers, mailers, and an assortment of items which must have cost $75-$100.00 in total. Each time, they asked for more money and at first I did send a little more. It soon became apparent... the more I sent the more I received. It began to dawn on me ... this was a vicious cycle and I wondered just how this was benefitting me or the Party? I might have been more effective to send a little money to the Democrats and have them spend more than I sent to the Republicans.
This year I did it differently, I didnīt send any money and I still received all the mail outs plus a nasty note . On each phone call I clearly stated that until I could see the Party elected officials voting the way we elected them, there would be no donation. I finally got tired of receiving calls to give money for each and every issue that came up. I did work in the campaign for President and I did vote for the Party candidates. I bought signs for my yard.
Here is my radical thought! Letīs all stop sending money to all of them! That would include all the special interest groups, PACīs, committeeīs, Partyīs, people and causes. We may be the real problem!! We all know none of those elected will miss a bite of food or a place to live. Changing out the ones in office will only mean we replace them with someone else who will do the same things again. It would be a reasonable backlash to all those who betrayed us about the economic conditions last fall. Those who knew, or should have known, we were on the brink of disaster months and even years before we had to rush a "bailout" through congress. And then top it off with the greatest pork barrel spending budget in the nationīs history! Followed by yet more "bailouts" AND THE NATIONALIZATION OF THE AUTOMOBILE INDUSTRY. Remember where we were a year ago.
Folks, this happened on their watch. It was not caused by some foreign enemy! We,
the people, allowed this to happen to us. We are still in shock!
Health Care: As much as I would like to guarantee every citizen full medical care at government expense, there is no way we can pay for it at this time.
My radical thought! Abolish every law that exempts congress and itīs members. We need to bring down the kings and queens again and restore the republic to the people. Any law that applies to the people and not the congress or the president, must be in violation of the constitution. We must find a way to regain control of congressional and presidential pay and perks. Perhaps a constitutional amendment.
Tennis anyone?
