Priority USA
There is still a valid misconception from the members of our Congress on the state of the United States. This country is in very serious trouble. With the economy still making the majority of the United States citizens facing uncertain futures, our infrastructure is collapsing, our water supplies are no longer adequate for the population, and we are so deep in pollution that we are ending up now destroying our oceans, the air we breath, and the ground where we plant our food supply; that if we fail to address and rectify these major issues the whole planet is in jeopardy. The President and our elected officials in Washington have yet to produce one tangible living wage job after all the Billions of taxpayers funds that went into rescuing and bailing out the financial and auto industries that brought this current economic crisis down upon all of us in the first place. Compound to this economic catastrophe of almost the same magnitude as the Depression of the 1930's this nation is faced with the most severe water crisis in our history, our food sources have been steadily being depleted of the basic nutrients that provide healthy sources of nutrition for consumption, and the ever increasing amounts of pollutants that are dispersed into the oceans, the atmosphere, and the ground have brought not only us but the rest of the world almost to the brink of a climate di saster. All this and the continuing threat of an pandemic of epic proportions with the Swine Flu, the Bird Flu, Aids and the increasing rising rate of TB. this Country needs a concise plan of direction short and long term to solve these most severe crisis before they really send the United States into an abyss that this country will not be able to climb out of.
The time for action is now! We must put aside our differences and realize that for the greater good, a National Economic and Environmental plan that is implemented as soon as possible is needed now.. A workable, detailed, with viable solutions that will propel the United States into a brighter and more secure future. This is accomplished by focusing on National Economic Reform and in this proposal Universal Health Care must be achieved. For without having a one single payer plan that covers every American the future of this country is bleak indeed. We have to simultaneously improve our energy crisis by focusing on most of the Pickens plan for energy independence. At the same time a national aqua-duck system must be created to transfer fresh water from areas that have abundant supplies and rainfall to areas where the need is greatest. If ancient Rome can create one then the United States in the 21st century certainty can accomplish this enormous and vital undertaking. For riding the planet of our massive pollutants the need for more involment in recycling. There must be more incinerators with precipitators on every exhaust put on line this will greatly aid in elimination of all toxins while at the same time generate more energy for every one.
The cost to do nothing is too great to ignore and if we hesitate the greater the cost not only in dollars and cents but with the undo suffering of all citizens everywhere will be disastrous. To help with the monumental financing of all these projects The United States must pass legislation now on National Economic Reform with these inclusions;
1} Changing the tax code to a 10% Flat Tax.
2] Legalize the sale of medical marijuana with a 5% sales tax.
3] Put an additional .05 cent tax on all alcohol and tobacco items.
4} Eliminate the Capital Gains Tax.
5} Reform our trade agreements to slow down the pace of jobs shifted out of the country.
6} A massive jobs program similar to the Works Progress Administration the President Roosevelt under took in 1935 to put Americans to work this will ensure employment opportunities for those millions who are unemployed and will help with the construction of the rebuilding of our infrastructure.
7} Re-establish the selective service to require all men and women ages 18 to 25 to register for the service draft . Just as the selective service was before the 1975
8} Cease the government contract with Blackwater and recoup the tax dollars spent to projects of great urgency here.
The urgency of passage and implementation of a total Economic Reform and Environmental plan can't be stressed enough. The United States is running out of time to ward off the impending catastrophe that will happen if this country fails to unite behind a common cause. That is the security, the health, the economic stability, and the future prosperity of all Americans.
