Leverage Technology to Start Low Maintenance Home Business. Improve Computer Skills with E-Learning
How to get a business off the ground without going the traditional route.
In any economy having a home business is a huge advantage to you. You can generate more income, you can write off expenses on your taxes, and you can do it all from your home while still maintaining a family life.
There are a few things you want to know before starting a business. How do I know? I´ve started 2 work at home businesses. Here are some tips:
1) Realize it can take time to get the business running. Most businesses don´t make money in the first year. If you are starting a business from home just be sure that you make sure you have enough financing or money saved for the business.
2) Treat the business like a business. Have space set aside in your house for an office and when you are in the office it is just like you are at work. Try not to let any distractions at home bother you. If you have kids then work out a system you can attend to the kids´ needs and still attend to the business.
3) Leverage technology. To have a low maintenance business you need to leverage technology to make your life easier. You need to know how to automate many of the tasks you would normally do, for instance sending out reminder e-mails, purchasing online, etc. You also want to be proficient at Excel, and PowerPoint to be able to communicate your ideas, keep track of your records, and analyze your business.
4) Get help. Having help in the areas you don´t understand will go a long way. You cannot be a 1 person army so why not get help? I recommend sites like www.elance.com for project work and getting help with your books from a CPA. A business coach is also helpful for anything in general. The right computer software training can improve your productivity and professionalism.
5) Consider taking your business online. If you have an online business you can leverage technology and your time but you have to learn how to market on the internet. It can be a great tool for you to generate revenue.
