Are We Heading Towards A World War III

Judy Ramsook
When this current Administration decided to wage war with Iraq back in the Spring of 2003, a premonition kept nagging at me. It nagged me so much that at some point I had to completely allow the premonition to unfold in my mind.

What was it? It was the notion that is indicative of an adage, the one that says, one thing leads to another.

I wondered if after the US and its allies had finished trouncing on Iraq, if it or Israel, knowing that it would have the support of the US, would go after some of the other nations in the Middle East. Nations such as Syria and Iran, even Lebanon.

Three years later it seems as if my nagging premonition is taking shape not in my mind, but in all reality. After Lebanon moved Israel to reacting the way it did in recent days, Israel now wants to stop neighbouring countries such as Syria and Iran from coming to Lebanon’s aid by supplying them with arms and ammunition; all with the backing of this Administration, of course.

What if Syria and Iran do not comply? Will the US and its allies start sending troops there as well? All in an effort to stop others from attacking Israel and or its people.

If such countries stop sending arms to its allies, there would not be much of a battle to fight, would there?

What they might have to deal with is what the US troops and troops of its allies have right now in Iraq. What is known as insurgents or rebels of their countries who are willing to not only fight but also die for their land.

Something that could have troops lingering in the Middle East much longer than anyone could anticipate.

All one has to do is peruse a daily newspaper or look at the evening news to see a group or two wishing and pleading for their troops to come home.

Of course there are others who want them to stay and finish what they started. That too makes one wonder, what indeed has begun here. Are we like Nostradamus predicted, heading for a World War III?

There may never have been a time in the world’s history when there were no wars or countries exchanging gunfire with one another, but if some people thought peace was a distant entity before, it may seem more distant now than ever.
