Virginia: A Business Land of Opportunity

Virginia is one of the best states of the United States of America. Comparatively, the economy of the state is good and lucrative. The state is beautifully covered with forest and green land. The people of the state are good, friendly and responsive in every attempt of daily business of life and conduct.

Virginia is named by ´Top State for Business´ in order of ranking competitiveness. The ranking order was on the competitive survey of 40 measures of competitiveness in 10 categories analyzing the quality of its work force, cost and nature of business transaction and support for innovation. The sales of business transaction, consumption of goods and services, personal disposable income and corporate tax levels calculated are basic measurement of economic indicators in evaluation.

Virginia, in business economic evaluation was ranked top by CNBC in 2007. Later, it was positioned to second behind Texas. The Lone Star State ranked second in 2009, followed by Colorado, Iowa and Utah.

Since January 2008, Virginia has successfully generated $ 6.58 billion in investment and held 30,856 employment opportunities. Due to recession in the economy in the United States, Virginia is affected by fueling the economic slump from 8.5 % unemployment rate to double- digit at the end of the year in the nature of employment market. The economic climate is tougher to employers of minimum wage workers – from hotels to day cares to burger chains – which face a larger cutting of paychecks as employees´ revenues continue to shrink.

Presently, the Alleghany Highlands Economic Development Corporation (AHEDC), VA has launched an economic market survey for downtown Covington and downtown Clifton Forge for setting of business economic plans and revitalization plans. The study survey would analyze the factors of affecting business decisions in towns.AHEDC is highly concentrated to people´s attitudes and interests to be known and determined in business activities. Most likely, it is a most critical strategy for planning on revitalization in term of life and vitality of towns.

Tourism industry is next to the vital economic force for Virginia which is reliable to all. Tourism is still needed to improve better than today in this state. All the people and business communities ought to understand and realize its power of engine for economic growth and development in time.

Traveling for business and traveling for recreation and pleasure are important parts of tourism and economic development of the United States of America. The economy of the United States can be upgraded through the growth and development of tourism industry particularly Nepal´s Village Tourism concept propounded by Dr Pradhanang of Nepal. America needs Dr Pradhanang´s concept of Village Tourism which is applicable in villages and small towns of the United States of America for a wonderful change in economy and tourism. In fact,Dr Pradhanang´s Village Tourism idea can be a heeling economics for tourism and economy in the U.S.A. Basically, business travelers would spend a lot of money and also generate a good deal of industry revenue too. On domestic travel and tourism, the residents of the U.S.spent $641 billion in 2007 as reported by the U.S.Travel Association. Roughly speaking, 33% held from business travelers. In fact, the economy is keeping a lid on business travel. The consumers of business travel like banking, housing and so forth are generally in keeping travel agenda as theirs plan and promotion of business and industry. Some travel companies are following strategies for luring business travel.Hotelers are providing bonus room nights, free snacks and drinks.


Plus, the people of America would like to spend their holidays and travel in a new destination which is the plus point for promotion and development of tourism in America. In a short or long period of vacation, the American people would like to be recreational vacationers or travelers. Mostly, they would travel as domestic tourists in different states of the United States of America. It is good to add Nepal´s Village Tourism attraction or uniqueness in the United States as a new experience and adventure to tourists.

Similarly airlines have been offering heavily discounted upgrades and business fare sales. The summer demand for travel is generally picked up. It is believed that the spending in travel or investment in travel will be financially returned even after the economic recovery. A business travel is always necessited.Otherwise; people may start asking to use videoconferencing or teleconferences.

The corporate travelers, who would generally pay higher airfares in term of business class airfares are naturally pushed up and conditioned to travel after travel on and often. The customers dividing into the major three classes – residential, commercial and industrial are always mobile to travel and tourism linked.

We must think of the significance of traditional cash cow – business travelers in the place of national economy. There will be the airfare wars in airbuses and discounted fares in hotel accommodations in local and global air services and hotels from time to time and season to season in the global business and global tourism industry.Hence, Virginia has also to follow the test of significance of travel and tourism business in time, so that it can expose its unique tourism attraction and set up its model for economic development and tourism development side by side in the United States of Am
