Thankful for the Media's Lust of Liberal-Donkeys

Bonnie Alba
Recently my husband and I flew to CA to help my sister move back East. During that time, I, a political junkie, deliberately deprived myself of any newspapers, TV and online web news. It was an enlightening experience. Twelve days later, when I finally booted up my computer, read newspapers and watched TV news, guess what? Nothing had changed.

The continuing cycle of births and deaths, weddings and divorces, criminals and victims continued. And the political game inside and outside the beltway had not changed either. Congress had taken no small or large strides toward solving any of the issues that confront our nation.

What I mean is that the media continues to report the unending utterances of the same liberal-Donkeys. Statistically and logistically, before and after my temporary diet from the news, the same, tired rhetoric issued forth from the same liberals --- whatever the issue.

The media continues to dazzle and flabbergast us with the tongue-waggings, over and over, those scraps of one-sided offerings of supposed wisdom, truths and the American way. The most recent example came in response to New York’s upholding the ban on same-sex marriage. The Donkey’s National Committee Chairman, Howard Dean, shows us how words can be deceitful:

As Democrats, we believe that every American has a right to equal protection under the law and to live in dignity. And we must respect the right of every family to live in dignity with equal rights, responsibilities and protections under the law. Today’s decision by the NY Court of Appeals, which relies on outdated and bigoted notions about families, is deeply disappointing, but it does not end the effort to achieve this goal.”

Sounds just wonderful, doesn’t it? Take his statement apart and here’s what he means by the words “family,” “bigoted,” “goal.” The “goal” is to become so t-o-l-e-r-a-n-t that a “family” may be two men or two women joined in marriage.

They're “equal” to man-woman in the mind of Howard Dean and must be treated the same, the opportunity to have children (most can’t because they lack shared reproductive traits), pay taxes, etc. Shades of Professor Peter Singer! If you believe in “marriage” as between a man and woman only --- the from time immemorial foundation of most societies --- you are now a “Bigot.”

There’s a huge-but-silent Elephant in the same newsroom which we don’t hear much from on the national level. Where is the corresponding statement from Chairman Ken Mehlman, the National Elephant Committee, on same-sex marriage?

The conservative-Elephants may be quiet, but once pushed to a certain point, they will erupt with a trumpeting roar and clamor --- much as citizens have done with at least 75 percent against same-sex marriage much less any other kind of marriage between species. Add the 95 percent of citizens who believe “border security” should be the first concern of our federal government.

I think the news media was surprised by faithful Fox News viewers move to CNN’s Lou Dobbs. He tackled the illegal immigration problem (as well as the ports) in depth while questioning the reasons for the lack of emphasis on security of our borders. Though Fox News does a good job covering the Islamic Terrorist War, many viewers wanted to be more informed about our actual National Security situation.

When supposed conservative-Elephant Sen. Arlen Spector was quoted as supporting the Senate bill which concentrated on a guest-worker (read amnesty) program to the exclusion of the security of our borders, many Elephants were left aghast and scratching their heads. When the Elephant President decides this is the policy he wants, we have to wonder what happened to the U.S. Constitution and the oath taken to defend and protect our borders.

Is there a difference when the Elephant speaks? Hard to tell if we focus only on the main media. It’s so one-sided. No surprise, but the liberal-media perform a disservice to themselves and end up looking very foolish.

I am glad I took this vacation from the news. I’ve learned not to get too excited or enraged by the anti-American opinions expressed by our representatives. The world keeps on turning despite their loose lips. The Dean-Kerry-Gore-Clinton-Kennedy, etc., crowd will continue to blister the news with their inept ravings about the issues of the day. Titillating, but empty.

It’s a wonder we aren’t all extremely apathetic. Maybe we should be thankful that the media lusts after their own Donkey-kind and doesn’t report more of the conservative-Elephant’s voice. That would be too balanced for a Free Press, wouldn’t it? And it just might enlighten its’ readership!
