Philippines Against the Odds

PHILIPPINE days ahead are keenly monitored by the whole world as a whole, and the Filipino people in particular. The present situation, no matter how homely, has not deprived the country from remaining to be a comforting sanctuary to the Filipinos. This is made possible by an effective government cooperation, with the untarnished friendship and support of the United States of America.

Metro Manila, despite being muddled up with all the petty and illogical political protests, is still the fair seat of the strictly pragmatic Arroyo government.

In the wake of the seemingly endless clutch of Moro exploits, Mindanao continues to enjoy utmost guidance and protection. Philippine governmental strength is never intimidated by the Moro terror groups such as Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF), Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF), Abu Sayyaf Groups (ASG), Rajah Sulaiman Group (RSG), Urban Terrorist Groups (UTG), Independent and integrated Al Qaeda Groups, Independent and integrated Jemaa Islamiyah Groups, Independent and integrated Mujahedeen groups, and Warlord/Warrior Clans.

Even the MILF's faltering pledge for a successful peace pact can't hold a candle of threat in the presence of the Just Guardian in a star-spangled red, white and blue coat.

The country's economic crisis, further pronounced by the escalating foreign debt, is being taken cared by an all-knowing head of state who is a brilliant USA-educated economist by profession. By a modest inchmeal pace, positive results to the recovery surfaces.

While the threat to oust President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo is not totally over, the public hearings in the Senate and in the House of Representatives are fairly decided upon to the satisfaction of the Filipino people---and a total disgust to the constantly protesting communist inspired civil society sectors. Obviously, the latters' seemingly solid yet futile protests only exasperates the Filipino people.

Despite the petty and irrelevant interruptions of the nuisance congressional representatives, matched with the never-ending evil designs of the Moro leftists, even the public hearings and investigation in aid of legislation in both houses of congress are helping to obtain political stability in the country.

The practice of political fairness is getting the better of our blue-blooded lawmakers who are at all times displaying true statesmanship in what they are doing.

And with the righteous guidance of Pope Benedict XVI, even the church is contributing to the stability of the country. While the intention of some members of the Catholic Bishop Conference in exposing the [politically fabricated] Jueteng Scam is noble, its effect is far from dividing the Filipino people.

STILL AT THE HELM OF POWER

President Gloria M. Arroyo is still in full control of the entire governmental system. She, along with our other national leaders, always finds a relevant modus vivendi to resolve the present burden of the country brought about by the unreasonable mismanagement of political oppositionists and other national vultures.

PGMA is still in full charge of leading the country into a satisfactory [if not Utopian] state. The destabilization attempts against her had not been sustained until this press time, and the momentum of her works and efforts for the Filipinos was not shaken even once.

It is likewise true that Her Excellency's appearances at all of her areas of presidential duty, and on many other governmental amelioration affairs, continuously "douse cold water on the heat" of the well-orchestrated yet helter-skelter destabilization process.

She has finally regained enough courage to confront the issues against her administration. She is at all times set to undertake the necessary steps to strengthen her position as the inerrant head of the government.

Being obviously a result of political and personal grudges on the part of the protesters, the military and police sectors, and business sector of the country are still not convinced of the veracity of the protests to oust and replace President Arroyo.

After all, who is qualified enough to take her place? This is the foremost and most relevant question in the minds of the Filipinos nowadays.

WHAT THE COUNTRY NEEDS NOW

Indeed, what the Philippines needs at this point in time are more cooler heads who can help divert the present politically molested situation the Filipino people are in.

Moreover, a total partiality with the present government is truly a great necessity to resolve justly and fairly the socio-economic problems confronting our nation today.

It's indeed never too late yet. The political oppositionists still have the ample chance to integrate normalcy into their misguided system and gracefully reverse their coats, pro deo et patria.

But at the escalating rate leftists and political oppositionists are going, the least informed countrymen will most likely be going insane. With the presence of these antagonists, the meager socio-economic gains the country has earned will also be for naught.

Those behind the move to topple down the President have once again fabricated more falsehood against her in their second impeachment attempt---as they have done so many times before.

With these ridiculous 'contravidas' in our midst, where are the Filipinos going from here? What is in store for them in the days ahead?

Let us therefore wait for further developments. It is either there are no more odds to come, or more odds are yet to come. (JV)
