Free Tips to Upgrade your MS PowerPoint Presentation by Computer Skills Training Expert Ankit Patel
PowerPoint is a very useful program but it´s only as good as the information and input that the user puts into it. Here are 6 ways to prevent mistakes in PowerPoint:
1) Know your Audience.
Be sure to target the people that are in your audience. These are some questions to ask yourself: How much detail does your audience want? What is the audiences experience level for the subject matter? Does my audience like an entertaining presentation or do they like a simple to the point presentation?
2) Keep it Consistent.
Be sure that your formatting is the same on every slide. You can use slide master to make these changes.
3) Keep it Simple.
Having too much animation or graphics on a slide can be distracting and people will focus on the slides instead of the presentation.
4) Practice.
Be sure to practice the presentation with the slides do you have the flow correct. It helps if you practice by yourself first then with one or two people to give you feedback.
5) Backup.
This technique depends on your audience but there may be time when you do not want to put all the information in the presentation but someone asks a question that requires some detail. If you put extra material at the end of the presentation, label it as a back-up section. This way if anyone asks a question you can jump to the back-up slides for explanations.
6) Learn the Program.
Much of the time spent creating PowerPoint documents could be cut down dramatically, with a little investment of time and money in the right online training program. You can learn everything you need to know about PowerPoint conveniently and effectively with the help of video subscription or live online instruction.
Keeping these 6 tips in mind and you´ll avoid a majority of mistakes that many people make.
