Life of A Speaker

Jay Lillie
Each day we read about bailouts for the banking and automotive industry. However, there are other industries that need help. The speaking industry is down and it's affecting thousands of professionals.

We've asked some of the top speakers in the U.S. to share their thoughts.

My top 3 tips on how organizations can help with the bottom line

1. Invest in the health of your employees by encouraging advanced preventive medicin(also called antiaging or longevity medicine)-it pays to visit a physician who will detect disease before it presents and offer tips on lifestyle, diet and supplements to help prevent diseases. Employees will have many less to no sick days.

2. Keep employees slim-offer weight loss and exercise programs

3. Learn stress reduction techniques

Overall tips:

1. Provide flexibility to accommodate boomer’s need for time.

2. Recognize and value mentoring efforts and other workplace successes. Boomers are driven to succeed and work is the epicenter of their life. This group lives to work and thrives on positions of power and prestigious titles.

3. Promote networking connections through memberships in organizations and attendance at conferences – this motivates boomers to create and delve into stimulating projects with colleagues which again involves this worker in your organization.

Leadership Lessons from the Founding Fathers of the United States

Three Upside Tips to Revolutionize the Way You Do Business

So, how do you declare your independence and simultaneously revolutionize the way you do business?

1. Use Your Assets. Invest in what you do best and network the rest. The Founding Fathers knew the talents of each person involved in the founding of the new republic. Some were young and educated men who could easily put their thoughts down on paper like Thomas Jefferson. Others were passionate and outspoken, like John Adams. And, others, like John Hancock, possessed leadership qualities that kept everyone moving in the same direction. Using the gifts that are uniquely yours helps you stand out in a sea of imitators.

2. Take the Road Less Traveled. The Founding Fathers were at a crossroads: Succumb to taxation or live free. They could’ve chosen the easy road, but they didn’t. When standing at a crossroads and making a decision, think about your options and then ask someone else. If one answer appears to make the most sense, ask yourself, “Does this make sense to me?” If the answer is NO, don’t be afraid to take the road less traveled and be authentically you.

3. Collaborate With Purpose. The signers were just a band of individuals who believed in something greater than themselves. You can move mountains when you openly work with others for a specific cause. Freedom and independence are not solo endeavors.

1. Keep things short and simple.

2. Get to know all of your employees on a personal level. Try to have something in common to talk about with each of them.

3. Always give praise and point out all the positives.

The benefits of laughter are far reaching. There is no better natural health and mind-body-spirit connection than what laughing can provide you.

The following is the evidence that laughter is the best medicine:

It brings joy to your life and to those around you. It makes your cheeks red and your face glow, making you more approachable and even more loveable.

It alleviates pain in the body and provides you with a sense of well being by releasing endorphins and serotonin, which have been proven to help reduce pain and can even enhance treatments of many illnesses and diseases.

It reduces the negative stress hormones such as cortisol and epinephrine, helping you to feel more relaxed.

It affects our social relationships. It allows us to connect with others more readily and to share a common bond with them.

It helps supply your body with oxygen, helping your feel full of energy and life.

It's the best alternative medicine for depression available....and it's free!
