Got a sad health care story? How would you like to be on Television?
Joseph -
Last night, Mike Snider was on The Rachel Maddow Show on MSNBC. Mike's the local restaurant owner in Nebraska whose personal story is featured in our rapid response ad pressuring Senator Ben Nelson to support a public healthcare option. When they called Mike and asked if he would be on the show, at first he wasn't sure.
Mike's just a regular guy, not a political spokesperson. But here's what he decided:
"After all the love and support I've gotten -- I just can't be afraid now. Doesn't matter how much they throw at me, this is something I've got to do. I was scared at first, but this isn't about me anymore. It's about the next generation and the generation after that. It's not for me; it's for my kids and my kids' kids."
Our rapid response ads, with our partners at the Progressive Change Campaign Committee, are a warning shot to any member of Congress who might stand against the American people. We must be ready to turn up the heat on any Senator at any time in all 50 states.
That's why we need you. Do you have a compelling healthcare story? Would you like to be featured in a T.V. ad in your state?
SHARE YOUR STORY AND SIGN UP TO BE IN THE NEXT RAPID RESPONSE AD
The pressure is working. Senators are paying attention and feeling the heat. Within hours of announcing the ads in Nebraska, not only did Senator Nelson issue a defensive statement, he called Mike Snider personally to "discuss" his position. You'll be able to hear what happened on the call when you see the clip of Mike on The Rachel Maddow Show at the link above.
While you're there, we make it easy to share your story and sign up to be considered for a rapid response ad in your state.

We are continuing to support the President and Democrats in Congress who are fighting for a strong public healthcare option -- Democratic Senators like Chris Dodd and Jeff Merkley and Representatives like Maxine Waters and Raul Grijalva.
But we won't let up our pressure on those in Congress who are roadblocks to real reform. Every member of congress needs to get the message: If you stand against the American people, you will stand alone for reelection.
