Get to Know Me: Kathleen Fuller, Author of Not Your Mother's Diet
Each time I connected with my inner strength, I found I had vision and
roots that led me to my passion of helping others. Each time I set a goal, it was the absolute highest and purest I could set in light of the principles of my guiding star. Having a star to guide me is like having the Source of All Love bring me a fuller, more loving heart. Having an inner star for guidance led me to give service to others in the one area that I experienced my most severe challenges and that was eating disorders and dysfunctional behaviors. This inner guiding star also led me to a more pure awareness of love which is best when its shared with others.
What do you want others to know about you?
As a leading eating disorder expert I inspire to send a powerful message in my work. My message stands out as inspiration for everyone to go beyond what is known and commonly accepted. It inspires valuing and honoring what is unique and authentic for you as an individual. It implies finding a higher spiritual perspective to guide your life--one that is true to you. On a personal level, my message also confirmed my inner desire to make a
difference in this world by following my heart and creatively blazing new trails. The
realizations born from this experience became a pioneering vision--a star to guide me
throughout my life.
What do you like and dislike about your community?
I choose Historic Downtown Stuart which won the Most Beautiful City in
2008, because you can live, work and play here in this Key West style community. My home/office called "Bigenuf" a name given to this tiny cottage in 1916, was the favorite of the 2008 Historic Home Tour with its gardens leading to frontage on the wide Frazier Creek . Within walking distance there are always art fairs, dancing in the streets, and
different interesting tours throughout the year. Truly a healthy, fun city.
What's your most memorable moment in life?
There are so many memorable moments but using my "The Schoolteacher Technique" found in my book, Not Your Mother's Diet is where I wrote a very personal statement in my journal 15 times each day, at the same time every day, consistently for at least three weeks. This actually took me 3 months to complete. I was aware during this period of time how my mind free-associated and connected this phrase with my purpose that I choose at that time. I found changes in my life, attitudes, and outlook that reflected the sense of freedom on all levels that I had never experienced before in my life.
What are your hobbies?
Spiritual comptemplation and brainstorming for ideas and activities are
my favorite first hobbies. I love so many interests such as writing,
gardening, drawing and painting, designing fashions to wear, exercising, and reading adventure stories. I used to show nationally in dressage with my Olymmic Games Competitor/Trainer Lenden Gray, plus I climbed mountains, ran rapids, and explored the U.S.A. as I traveled each summer.
