The Trial and Error Administration
Consider the "Cash for Clunkers" boondoggle which the politicians are calling a success. A subsidy is given to car buyers to trade in older cars ( no matter how many miles they intend to drive) for cars with greater gas mileage. Many people rushed out to buy and the cash ran out in four days. It was supposed to last three months. Now just as they did with the auto bailout ( which they learned nothing from) they are considering another two billion which should last 8 days and then what? Does this "successī translate into lowering the deficit or reducing the national debt? Of course not. They must decide when to cut off the cash and somebody is going to get caught with junkers that wonīt be paid for by the government ( read that taxpayers). In typical government fashion the dealers are complaining about late payments and mounds of paper work. Can anyone extrapolate what that means for socialized medicine which the government lackeys prefer to call Universal health care. They shy away from socialized medicine as they know it has failed so many times so they stupidly believe if they call it something else they might get it to work. You are seeing the Americanīs response to this charade at the town hall meetings. Yet the Democratic lackey's, intent on the party line mantra, are claiming the attendees at the meetings expressing anger are simply a minority instigated to cause disruption. Wrong. What these deluded henchmen are seeing is the soul of America shouting in their face that they donīt like the way the pompous ingrates are behaving and spending money they donīt have to spend.
The president who talked on the campaign trail about his decision making power has demonstrated he is not only incapable of making good decisions but has no idea how to solve the issues he claims are not his fault. He didnīt claim that in the campaign. He says Gitmo must go but has no idea what to do with the detainees. He is ratcheting up the war in Afghanistan with no plan of victory. He is sanctioning union growth when it has been proven that mobs of union workers demanding more than their employer can afford eventually bankrupts the employer. Look at the steel industry, the auto industry and any other industry where unions have demanded more than they supplied.
The diplomacy that he said would improve our image in the world has angered Israel and not mollified Iran, North Korea or anybody else. Even his own party has misgivings from the Blue Dogs who still operate under the belief that things have to be paid for. The "Stimulus Package" which was nothing more than political pandering packages that hasnīt stimulated anything including the shovels that were supposed to be activated. The employment gains have been in the form of Czars who have oversight over a myriad of functions that did real well before these buffoons came into being. The notion that employers are created by encouraging them to make money is stymied by a series of pronouncements aimed at encouraging tax increases and doing away with tax cuts that employers need to make a profit. Instead of realizing this we have a President who spouts nonsense about limiting executives salaries and saving the planet from future meltdown by taxing industry which will of course then be unable to provide more jobs.
I have witnessed many administrations and watched the gradual deterioration of each succeeding one with debt increases, regulation expansion and rights violations. All politicians who have achieved the office of the presidency have foolishly thought they could make things better if only government would expand its sphere of influence. There has never been a president that said and acted in a manner that reduced the reach of government. This shows how little they knew or were willing to learn about the role of government and what its purpose is for. This trend continues and of course gets worse as the expansion of government only disrupts the lives and earnings of citizens. The anger of the tea parties and the town hall meetings ( you will notice the anger at the tea parties was more generalized when no politician was present) was real and warranted. Every politician attacked offered no new message and tried to cram the current trend down the throats of the participants. This demonstrates the politicians have boxed themselves into a corner assuming the American citizens would fall for anything they propose. The fact that they didnīt read what they passed was not in their favor either.
For the time left in this administration we will only see attempts to mollify and meddle in the name of fantasy oriented progress. What we will see that is positive will be a result of what the government is not doing. Subsidies will continue to reek havoc rewarding some and damaging others. Not a soul in government will question the immorality of subsidies and they want to have a "civil" discussion? A civil discussion doesnīt exclude the questioning of premises and this is exactly what the politicians are tone deaf to. As long as they can pose as benefactors they are willing to listen and converse. When they are called on the carpet for interference and disruption they fall into their evasion mode. They need to be called out on their "civil discussion" mantra. Ask them where they were when constituents wrote in and were ignored. Ask them where they got the notion that the America that fought against socialism in WWII would be willing to surrender to its ugliness by a representativeīs vote? Ask them why they rubber stamp any nonsensical notion a Treasury Secretary utters with no inquiries, no reflection and no restraint?
We have turned the governance of this country over to people who are blindly following the lead of someone who is making guesses and perpetuating follies. We have no representation when the politicians donīt even read what they pass. We have no representation if the only meetings they will hold must contain applause for their lackey socialism. We have no representation if subsidies and bailouts are the order of the day. No one represents America or Americans who doesnīt prioritize the defense of individual rights. This is what they signed on to do and this is what they are abrogating. Is it any wonder they are meeting with resentment and disgust? They deserve the distain they have earned.
