Hollywood actors get their hands dirty with Habitat

Oxnard, CA - Habitat for Humanity of Ventura County was given a big surprise by having actors Eric Roberts (TV show Crash and Dark Knight) and Ross McCall (Crash and Band of Brothers) bring their muscle and notoriety to a lucky crew of Habitat volunteers and homeowners. While Roberts and McCall put up siding on the duplex, volunteers hovered around the actors, asking for photos with them. The actors also met two Habitat families who will be moving into their home late fall. As part of Habitat´s family selection, all homeowners provide 250-500 sweat equity hours where they help build their home.
Ross McCall shared with Habitat staff, "I just think it is so cool what (Habitat) does!" Both McCall and Roberts gave up their Saturday to work and bring attention to the efforts Habitat has been making in Ventura County for over 26 years.
"Having Eric and Ross volunteer at our site is a great show of support," shares Suzzi Crouch, Habitat´s Development Director. "They are bringing attention to Habitat´s passion in providing affordable housing for local families who need it."
Habitat for Humanity of Ventura County is a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing ministry seeking to eliminate poverty housing from Ventura County and the world making decent shelter a matter of conscience and action.
As the oldest California affiliate, Habitat for Humanity of Ventura County's passion and mission is to provide the community with affordable housing for low and very-low income families. To date, the chapter has built 47 homes with over 52,000 volunteers and more than 315,000 hours of love, commitment, and generosity for Habitat families. Currently there are four homes under construction in Oxnard and Santa Paula.
