ISRAELI TANKS ROLL INTO NORTHERN GAZA
Tanks, and armored carriers have been sent into northern Gaza in response to a second harmless rocket attack on Israel by the Hamas controlled Palestinian Authority.
Witnesses on the ground say that they saw five tanks cross into Gaza near the former Jewish Settlement of Nissanit. An Associated Press reporter on the ground said that he could see other tanks taking up positions on a nearby hill as bulldozers built dirt berms around them.
Witnesses reported hearing heavy machine gun, and mortar fire.
Israel pulled out of the region, that is home to 1.4 million Palestinians, last year, and ended a 38 year occupation.
Israeli spokesman said that the military operations in invading northern Gaza were to damage Hamas in the West Bank and Gaza, and “limiting the movement of terrorists by severing the Gaza Strip and targeting terror infrastructure."
The Israeli Army has orders to attack, and destroy sites “facilitating terrorism.”
Israeli military operations appear to be designed to end the Hamas controlled Palestinian government, and obtaining the return of the Israeli Soldier kidnapped by Hamas terrorists when they entered Israel and kidnapped him on June 25.
Palestinian terrorists have agreed to return the kidnapped Israeli soldier in exchange for Israel's release of Palestinian terrorists in Israeli custody. Israel has responded that they will not negotiate with terrorists.
