Saving the Alaska Wolf and the Rainforest from habitat destruction!
From Greenpeace.
Dear Joseph,
We need your support today.
The Alexander Archipelago in Southeast Alaska is a 500 mile strip of snowy peaks, fjords, forests, and thousands of islands. It also boasts one of the largest collections of intact temperate rainforests in the world. In addition to grizzly bears, wolverines, eagles, and wild salmon, these special lands are the only home of the Alexander Archipelago "Islands wolf."
Please rush Greenpeace your most generous support as we gear up for a major legal battle to protect these wolves and the pristine rainforests they call home.
The Alexander Archipelago wolf is a beautiful subspecies of the timber wolf. It is exceedingly rare, with only 700 to 1,100 individuals left in the wild. But, instead of protecting this amazing animal, the U.S. Forest Service has been ignoring science and cutting corners to increase destructive logging - by up to 500% - in its rainforest habitat.
Four major logging projects, subsidized by taxpayer dollars, are threatening the habitat of the Alexander Archipelago wolf. Greenpeace has uncovered evidence that the government has been devaluing the effects of these logging projects on Sitka black-tailed deer, one of the primary food sources for the Alexander wolf. Without deer and intact rainforest habitat, Alexander Archipelago wolves will eventually slip into extinction.
Greenpeace is not going to let the government sacrifice the Alexander Archipelago wolf´s habitat to chainsaws. We are calling out the government in court and, with your help, we will win.
We still haven't met our $75,000 goal to take on the government and win this critical legal battle for the Alexander wolf and the rainforests of southeast Alaska.
Please help Greenpeace protect the Alexander Archipelago wolf before it is too late. If we don't stand up now, some of the world's last remaining pristine habitats and the wildlife that depend on them could be lost forever
For wolves and wild rainforests,
