July Venice Chamber of Commerce Mixer at Baja Cantina

Edizen Stowell shimmies between two tables and climbs on top of a chair. This little fire ball is the woman behind Venice Paparazzi. She shouts for the group below her to look up as she clicks away...one more, one more is her steady diatribe. Venice Paparazzi is a proud member of the Venice Chamber of Commerce and is a fixture at every Venice Event. The July Chamber mixer is hosted by Baja Cantina.

The place is packed….I am searching for the waitress who nabbed my drink ticket when I ordered a margarita, and seems to have disappeared into the sea of people at Baja. Kathy Pew sees my anticipation and waits with me as we hover by the service door. Kathy works for Del Rey News selling display ads. "Where have you guys been?" I exclaim. Being a local publicist I remember submitting events to Del Rey a few years back. "We have expanded and have added Venice as part of our coverage. In addition Del Rey is now a weekly paper" she explains. Good to hear, Venice can always use another local paper. There are so many amazing events happening here.

"Smile….one more shot", I hear Edizen directing….she is crouched down on the floor now…shooting up.

As I am chatting with Leila Levi, a local Venice artist I back into a tall gentleman, I look up…It´s Mike Newhouse, president of the Venice Neighborhood Council. Yes everyone is out….Venice is alive and buzzing. Mike will be on hand and on stage at the Venice Neighborhood BBQ coming up on Aug 1st. I spot Carolyn Rios, fellow Neighborhood council Board member, who has been working feverishly on the planning and details of the VNC BBQ. A wonderful Venice happening at Oakwood Park open to the community. Everyone brings side dishes and local fireman barbeque. The meat is provided by the Venice Neighborhood council. Carolyn is a longtime Venetian and adores living here and being part of the community. She has been coming to Venice Chamber Mixers for quite some time now.

Edizen whizzes by, "No my mouth is full" someone mumbles….Can´t stop the girl now….she´s on a roll….click, click, click….and she´s off

Alex and Nadine Rosales mingle amongst the crowd. Alex was the president of the chamber last year and he and his wife, Nadine have been members since 1986. "It´s a wonderful way to meet new people" he says. "Being a part of the chamber offers great networking availability…Through the years their business, Control Printing has gained many new customers. When asked how long he intends to be a member….Alex states "I will be a member till they kick me out".

Group shots are completed with Edizen organizing and capturing every detail of this eclectic and fun mixer. See all the photos on www.venicepaparazzi.com.
