82 Reasons to Love Austin

Austin, Texas is a wonderful place to live. People relocate to Austin for a lot of reasons. Most move to Austin for jobs, but many move to Austin for other reasons or for a combination of a job change and the lifestyle in Austin.

Over the last few years I have been compiling a list of things Austin has been recognized for. These include top 10 lists and various accolades the city has been recognized for. Here are some samples:

Austin ranked Best City for Recession Recovery. Austinīs diverse economy, home to Dell, the University of Texas and the Texas state government, has kept the economy strong.(Forbes, 6/10/09)

Natural Home magazine ranks Austin #2 among America's Top Ten Eco-Friendly Communities.

Austin Best Bargain City in the U.S. Austin earned high marks across the board. "They have the triple-whammy of being a university town, a state capital and a technology center." (Forbes, 5/09)


Travel & Leisure readers were surveyed to determine America's Favorite City. Boston took the top honors overall, but Austin ranked high in many categories including attractive people, athleticism, intellect, friendliness and, of course, live music. (Sept 2008)

Georgetown, an Austin suburb, ranks 1st Among the Best Places to Retire. (US NewsWorld Report, October 2007)

Austin is on the top of the best bang for the buck list. (Forbes, October 2008)
