WORKSHOP TO PROMOTE SMALL FINANCE IN MUSLIM COUNTRIES HELD IN SUDAN
The workshop is organized by the Sudanese Businessmen Union in cooperation with the Islamic Chamber of Commerce and Industry under the auspices of the Governor of the Central Bank of Sudan , and supported by the Islamic Bank for Development in Jeddah and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP).
This workshop comes within the Union 's outside efforts which is aimed at enhancing and succeeding the small finance process regarding it as one of the active mechanisms which supports the state's efforts to eradicate poverty and unemployment and realize the participation of the poor sectors and the weak but economically active sectors in the production circle to support the national economy.
Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Sudan , Badr Aldien Mahmoud addressed the workshop inaugural session explaining that making a strategy for the small finance comprised specific elements and axis through which the concept of small finance will be clear to start the work.
He added that these elements include improvement of capacity building, training for the targeted and the trainees in this sphere. He called on the businessmen to enter into a partnership with the Central Bank of Sudan to implement the training programme, affirming the bank's adherence by supporting the establishment of the international center for small finance in Sudan.
On his side, Ali Abbarsi of the Businessmen Union ,described the workshop as one of the most significant activities of the aspired programme implemented by Islamic Chambers in the Muslim states for the Year 2009, hailing the efforts exerted by Sheikh Salih Alkamil, president of the Islamic Chamber for commerce and industry for the benefit of the Muslim nations.
He added that the endeavors exerted on the enhancement of the capacity- building, and skills improvement in the financial and banks sectors realize the goals and objectives and benefits of the small finance ,besides establishing the problems facing the financial institutions and laying down the basis for the required solutions.
He also explained the necessity of proceeding in strengthening the meanings and concept of the small finance and support the trend of establishing the small finance banks and institutions and to increase the cadres abilities concerned, by implementing the strategies and policies and experts exchange to realize the sustainable economic development and the positive changes in the societies.
In a press statement,General Secretary of the Sudanese Businessmen Union, Bakri Yousif Omar, said the workshop comes within the context of supporting the state's strategy which is aimed at implementing the expansion in the sphere of the small finance,to eradicate poverty and according to the directions of the Central Bank of Sudan to adopt and implement the national strategic plan of promoting and developing the small finance sector.
REPORT: HIGHLIGHTS ON THE REGIONAL ORGANIZATION FOR CONSERVATION OF THE ENVIRONMENT OF THE RED SEA AND GULF OF ADEN (PERSGA)
Khartoum /19/ 7/ - Launching of the national workshop on enlightening of the decision makers was the kickoff project of establishing the national center for combating pollution of the Sudanese shore by oil and other harmful substances in case of emergency, said minister of energy and mining , Al-zuber Ahmad Al-Hassan, while addressing a workshop organized by PERSGA.; it is a governmental authority concerned with saving the sea coastal environments of the region.
Its membership consists of Jordan , Djibouti , Saudi Arabia , Sudan , Somalia , Egypt and Yemen .
The establishment of the Organization stemmed from the belief the environment of the Red Sea is a unique environment which was being utilized since centuries ago in fishery, trade and transporting the pilgrims.
The region's nations are currently sharing this water with oil tankers, cargo ships and tourists boats.
These elements represent sources of risks that may affect water environment systems which are still retaining its original purity relatively,in addition to the continuing increase in the numbers of populations of the coastal regions which represents new and increasing risks if there is no control.
The climate changes and rising of the level of the seawater, which are considered in the past faraway risks, became recently so near to the low regions.
Besides, there are various kinds of beautiful coral reefs that are not found in any other place in the world. The region's countries have adopted a strategic work-program for then Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden in collaboration with the International Environment Organization& its executive institutions, UN environment Program, the World Bank, the Islamic Development Bank and PERSGA..
The objective of the work-program, which began officially in 1999, is to create a new vision known as "Jeddah Convention" signed in 1982.
It is currently implementing a strategic work program in the region to protect the natural sites and biological diversity in the region. The program was being implemented through seven components including supporting PERSGA capacities, reducing sailing risks and sea pollution, sustainable utilization of marine life resources, saving the natural environments, establishment of a protected sea regions net and supporting the integrated administration of the coastal regions.
Moreover, to accomplish this strategic program,PERSGA had prepared a five-step strategy. First, unification of the survey system (the Organization has accomplished this step by revising the currently used survey styles).
Second, training the concerned cadres on how to use the unified survey methods (more than 100 persons have been trained during the last three years). Third,14 regional surveys had been accomplished to estimate the recent situation of the natural sites.
The last step concentrated on preparing plans of saving. Beside the national reports of these surveys had resulted on providing PERSGA with important information. In another part, similar attention is paid by the Organization to face the cases of chemical leakage.
In addition,it began a computerized program of following it through primary studies and organizing a regional training workshop in this regard during the current year.
Minister of Foreign Affairs Reviews with UN Special Representative Preparations for Arbitration Rule on Abyei
Khartoum, July 19 - The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Deng Alor, discussed with the Special Representative of the UN Secretary General to Sudan, Ashraf Qazi, the preparations being taken in Abyie in preparation for the ruling of the permanent Arbitration Court in The Hague on Wednesday.
The spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Ali A-Saddiq, said in a statement to the Press that the meeting of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Ashraf Qazi touched on the role of the delegations of the two partners (the National Congress and the Sudan People's Liberation Movement) as well as the preparations that will be taken in Abyei area in the presence of the officials of the two parties and regional officials. Ambassador Al-Saddiq added that the meeting also reviewed the cooperation between the two partners and the UN in order to allow the court issue its ruling.
American Envoy: Progress was Reached in the Sudanese - American Relations
Khartoum, July 19 - The American envoy for Sudan , Scott Gration, said that progress was reached in the relations between his country and Sudan . In a statement to the press after a round of Sudanese - American Sunday at the Friendship Hall, Gration described his talks with the officials in Sudan as constructive.
The Presidential Advisor, Dr. Ghazi Salahuddin, said that the Sudanese - American talks reviewed the bilateral relations and the impediments facing their progress.
He said that the talks witnessed protest of the Sudanese party over the recent statements of the American President on Darfur, adding that like such statement do not help enhancement of the bilateral relations and solution of Darfur issue.
Meanwhile, Dr. Salahuddin indicated that the talks between the Sudanese and American parties tackled the implementation of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA), adding that the two partners of the CPA reached agreements on most the pending issues and the ways to settle them. The American envoy is due to visit Abyei area on Tuesday and would then leave for Juba .
Sudan Delivers Complaints to Security Council against Chad Aggressions on Sudanese Territories
New York, July 19 - Sudan has delivered a complaint to the UN Security Council against the recent Chadian aggression on the Sudanese territories. Sudan representative to the UN, Ambassador Abdul-Mahmoud Abdul-Halim, told reporters Sunday that Sudan has delivered to the UN Security Council a compliant against the Chadian violations and the repeated aggressions, which he described as criminal and unjustifiable.
Ambassador Abdul-Halim accused some forces in the Security Council of supporting the flagrant Chadian aggressions on the Sudanese territories. He pointed out that Sudan obtains the full right to repulse such irresponsible acts that neglected dialogue and the customs of the international relations.
Dr. Al-Mahdi Regrets Opposition Allegations on Illegitimacy of Government
Khartoum, July 19 - The Secretary General of Political Relations at the National Congress, Dr. Mohamed Mandour Al-Mahdi, has expressed his regret over the false allegations on illegitimacy of the government.
In a statement to the press at the headquarters of the National Congress Sunday, Dr. Al-Mahdi said that the opposition has failed to instigate the Sudanese public opinion as it has pledged to do.
He said that the Sudanese people became convinced that the opposition stance was lacking justification and logic, adding that the biggest evidence on the failure opposition was the continuity with its legitimacy and the normal progress of the situation.
Responding on the trend of the Justice and Equality Movement to release a group of detainees, he said that the government has spoken frankly in the good will agreement that it will release the convicts according to the progress of the negotiations in Doha .
He said that the justice and judicial authorities are currently considering the situation of the convicts in Omdurman incidents on light of the appeals presented by the convicts. Dr. Mandour Al-Mahdi disclosed that talks are currently being held in Khartoum between the government and the American envoy within the efforts to improve the Sudanese - Chadian relations.
He said that the two partners in the Comprehensive Peace Agreement will continue their dialogue in the presence of the American envoy, Scott Gration for solving the pending issues in the peace agreement.

Khartoum, July 18 - The newly formed Happy Family Organization has launched its working programme which aims to spur the lofty moral values in the society with the view to cement and strengthen family stability, cohesion and steadfastness within the community./
Sheikh Mohamed Sayed Hajj, renown Islamic scholar and Advisor for the Organization, told the Sudan News Agency (SUNA) Forum that their message which calls for family preservation was never a utopian concept but is a fundamental element for upholding the unison of the whole community and its solidarity./
He argued that family values have been neglected amid the daily quest for securing family livelihood and preoccupation with politics whereas it was imperative to focus on family matters especially under the changes which affects the Islamic society , citing cases of abandoned children, socially-unaccepted dresses, and immoral conducts, calling for making a working programme to contain any violation of accepted socio-Islamic norms./
He called for application of a rigorous feasible programme that would seek family protection, arguing that the family represents the safe valve for the good morals and lofty principles./ He said family cohesion contributes in maintaining social peace and stability.
He argued this could not be created by the establishment but, rather, through invigoration of the deeply rooted social heritage./ He said the creation of the organization was spurred by the numerous social threats that could undermine family fabrics, such as drugs addiction, unemployment, conflicts and displacement.
He also explained that some of the motives behind the creation of the organization include the increase in the rate of divorce cases that result in far reaching impacts at the communal level./
He said the organization aims at reforming splits within the family, affirming that the organization targets many directions for its performance improvement, including the scientific survey in cooperation with the specialized institutions and the training and preparing and assisting those who want to get married through courses and specialized institutes in the field of family matters./
He said the organization has prepared programmes for children to enhance family solidarity and improve the social integration, adding that the organization is adopting an intellectual and scientific methods based on the correct standards for building the happy family./
On his part, the Executive Manager of the organization, Alnaa'eem Osman Hamid affirmed that, among the most significant motives for the organization's establishment is the realization of intellectual, cultural and conceptual harmony among the couples./
He revealed the organization's plan which aimed at family improvement in all the spheres including the economic, political, social, information technology, voluntary work, statistics and research work to promote the organization's programme and to establish a consultative council with many experts and specialists to provide the advice in this field.
He reviewed the divorce and martial rates saying that Omdurman town registered the highest divorce rates in 2007 according to the courts statistics while Sinnar state registered the lowest divorce rates in 2007. In 2008 southern Kordofan state registered the highest divorce rates.
President of the Republic stresses the importance of the strategic relations between Egypt and the Sudan
Cairo, July 18 - The President of the Republic, Field Marshal Omar Al Bashir has stressed the importance of the strategic relations between the Sudan and Egypt, due to the geographic, historic, cultural, racial, social, spiritual and emotional and religious bonds that link the two countries. The President has pointed out to the special ties that link the two states particularly in the military domains.
The President, who was speaking to the Sudanese community in Cairo , has enumerated the supportive stands of Egypt towards the Sudan in the various regional and international domains.
He said that one of the targets of the Sudanese government was that the relations between the two counties should be a strategic one and that the national security of the two countries was tightly linked.
The President said he did not feel alien to the society during all his stay in Egypt where he spent nine months in the paramilitary school and that he also has the honor to take pat in the October 1973 war and to serve in the front during the war of attrition in 1968.
The President has pointed out that a number of Sudanese cadets received training in Egypt , saying that during the last graduation ceremony there were some nine Sudanese officers.
He said he received an invitation to attend the graduation ceremony and that he was sure to attend the event. The president was planned to leave from Sharm Sheikh to Khartoum but after receiving an official invitation to attend the ceremony he decided to come to Cairo for that purpose.
The President said every family in the Sudan has one of its members completing his studies in Egypt . He said the mission of the government in the Sudan is to remove the hurdles before the free movements of commodities and individuals between the Sudan and Egypt .
He said every agreement signed between the Sudan and Egypt would be considered a framework that seeks to remove such hurdles.
President Bashir: Sudan welcomes any election monitors in Sudan
Khartoum, July 18 - The President of the Republic Field Marshal Omar Al Bashir has accused the United Nations Security council of failing to be a just institution, but rather a political organization that applies double standards in its stands, saying the American forces that entered Iraq and which the Sudan had opposed, and that left behind two million dead was actually based on a lie.
The President said the government seeks to get the country out of the problems it now faces and reach a sound political practice based on national dialogue. He said there was no monopoly of power.
The President has stressed in his address before members of the Sudanese community in Egypt that peace and stability are the key words for the resolution of all problems facing the country.
He said he would be working to unite all Sudanese people around the national causes. He said Sudan hosts all its sons. The President said his government wants peaceful exchange of power and that it has never claimed to be the best or the most concerned about Sudan 's interest than the other political parties.
He stressed that it was important to resort to the ballot boxes in all freedom and that the Sudan would welcome any side that wants to observe the elections in the Sudan .
President Bashir reaffirms that unity of the Sudan is in the interests of all Sudanese people
Khartoum, July 18 - The President of the Republic Field Marshal Omar Al Bashir has stressed that the Comprehensive Peace Agreement was being implemented despite the hurdles and difficulties it has faced, accusing those who talk about non-implementation of the agreement as lacking knowledge about the issue they talk about.
The President of the republic has pointed out to the many challenges that faced the country saying lifting sanctions from the Sudan was reached through the support of the brothers in Egypt and its credibility with the other.
The President said Sudan was now approaching a very sensitive stage including that of elections which was a Sudanese decision, to be followed by the exercise of the right to self determination for the south.
The President said he was convinced that unity of the Sudan was in the interest of all the Sudanese people and that any division would only weaken the country and would open the appetite of other areas for separation in a number of African regions.
He said he was convinced that many of the members of the SPLM were with the unity of the Sudan , which he stressed, needs lots of work from all parties.
He said some forces would like to deter the Sudan from its main objective which is the realization of unity of the country during the coming two years.
The President said the objective of the National Congress Party during the coming elections would be to focus on its efforts for the unity of the Sudan and that it would work to make the unity attractive.
He referred to the establishment of a fund that would be financed from the oil money to back up the unity efforts. He said during the coming two years the focus would be on the implementation of the projects in southern Sudan for boosting unity.
He said all Arab investors were invited to come to the south for the implementation of those projects and that Egypt was the first to respond to that invitation in the South.
The President said people should remember the historic visit of President Hosni Mubarak of Egypt to Southern Sudan's capital of Juba .
He said they would like to agree with their brothers in the SPLM about the referendum laws because in the end they all would like to see the end being unity of the Sudan .
The President said all wars are but calamity on the local people,and that Sudan needs more stability and peace.
President Al-Bashir Returns Home after his Participation at Non Allied Movement Summit in Sharm Al-Sheikh
Khartoum, July 18 - President of the Republic, Field Marshal Omer Al-Bashir, and the accompanying delegation Saturday returned home after participation at the 15th Non Allied Movement summit in Sharm Al-Sheikh , Egypt .
President of the Republic participated at the Non Allied Movement on his capacity as the President of Sudan and chairmen of the G 77 and China, adding that Sudan address at the summit was comprehensive and appreciated by all the participants at the summit.
In a statement to SUNA, the State Minister for Foreign Affairs and member of Sudan delegation, Al-Samani Al-Wasila, said that the summit in Sharm Al-Sheikh witnessed extensive political activity done by Sudan delegation.
He indicated that President Al-Bashir met on the sidelines of the summit with a number of presidents and heads of state, including the Cuban President, Raul Castro, the Nigerian President, the Yemeni President, Ali Abdalla Salih, the Lebanese President, the Emir of Kuwait, the Malaysian Prime Minister and the Ugandan and Eritrean delegations., besides a number of foreign Ministers who headed the delegations of their countries. Al-Wasila described the meetings between President Al-Bashir and other presidents and heads of state on the sidelines of the Non Allied Movement as fruitful.
He indicated that President Al-Bashir acquainted the presidents and heads of state whom he met at the summit with the implementation of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA) and the situation on the ground in Darfur .
He said that the outcome of these meeting has positive impact on the decisions and recommendation of the summit concerning its support to Sudan, denunciation to any acts that impede the implementation of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA), the summit's call on the international community to live up to its commitment to boost implementation of the peace agreement in Sudan, in addition to the summit's call for lifting the sanctions on the country.
Sudan Affirms that it has no Interest to Undermine Security of Chad
Khartoum, July 18 - Sudan affirmed that it has no interest to undermine Chad 's security, and reiterated its commitment to all the agreements that it has signed with Chad .
Commenting to SUNA on the security tension at the border between the two countries following the Chadian attack, the State Minister for Foreign Affairs, Al-Samani Al-Wasila, said that Sudan will deal with any incidents in accordance with the duties and the responsibility stipulated in the Constitution for maintaining the country's security, the integrity of its territories and the safety of its people.
He said Sudan hopes that Chad will correct its acts, stressing that Sudan will also not be hand-fettered in the case that its interests and citizens are harmed. The minister said that Chad is facing an internal problem, hoping that the negative impacts of this problem in Chad will not affect Sudan .
He said that any Chadian internal issue shall be solved with the internal framework. He referred to the former agreements sponsored by Libya and other countries toward normalization of the Sudanese - Chadian relations but were not implemented.
Al-Samani also referred to endeavours being exerted by some neighbouring countries and the African Union for enhancement of the relations between Sudan and Chad .
He reiterated that Sudan is ready to prove that it have no interest to undermine the security in Chad , but in the same time serious to protect its sovereignty and unity and the safety of the Sudanese citizens.
President Al-Bashir and First Vice - President Affirm Continuity of Partnership
Khartoum, July 18 - President of the Republic, Field Marshal Omer Al-Bashir, and the First Vice - President and President, Salva Kiir, has affirmed the continuity of the partnership between the National Congress and Sudan People's Liberation Movement (SPLM) and the keenness to implementation of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA) and holding of the elections.
In a press statement after the meeting at the Guest House Saturday evening, the State Minister at the Presidency of the Republic, Joseph Ashwel, said that the meeting reviewed the situation in the country and progress of the partnership and cooperation between the two partners.
He said that President Al-Bashir acquainted the First Vice - President on the meetings which he held on the sidelines of the Non Allied Summit in Sharm Al-Sheikh and his talks with the Egyptian President, Mohamed Hosni Mubarak.
He said that President Al-Bashir stated that President Mubarak has assured his country's support to Sudan concerning the ICC allegations and pledged to boost the stability in Sudan .
Ashwel said that the First Vice - President informed President Al-Bashir on the situation in the country in the past days and his meetings with leaders of the political forces and the talks on the elections and continuity of the national unity government.
