Prince Harry; Bad Boy Or Was He Just Enjoying Himself?

Judy Ramsook
He’s been scolded by some forms of the media and a certain religious group for wearing inappropriate garb to a costume party and he has also been known to lash out at members of the paparrazzi for taking photos of him and his family at unexpected and inopportune times.

Who is he? Prince Henry Charles Albert David Mountbatten Windsor better known simply as Prince Harry and third in line to the British throne, he seemed to have created quite a stir so far in his youthful life.

This quickly made news headlines all over; it was that time he, Prince Harry showed up at a festive masquerade dressed up in a Nazi outfit.

Little did the prince think of all the attention the wearing of that costume would have attained. As we all know now, he was greatly chastised and criticised for what he may have thought was just plain old fun.

Even though Prince Harry later apologised for offending anyone with the form of dress he chose for that particular occasion, is it suffice to say that maybe some people were just a little too harsh on him?

For aren’t costume parties just that; festive, enjoyable occasions? As this writer understands it, people who are invited to such events can usually wear the costume of his or her choice.

For example, even if some one attending such an event were to dress up as a religious figure some one who is say, wearing an outfit that represents what people perceive to be the devil might be offended that there is a person dressed up as a religious figure in the midst. All in good fun, of course.

Let’s face it, everyday every one of us offends some one no matter what we say, how we say whatever offends the offended, how we act, behave or even dress.

In fact, if one were to take the time to list all the various ways in which we offend each other all the time, volumes and volumes of books about the matter would be written with more still in the works.

Some people are just too sensitive. Sometimes we just need to live and not allow such things to affect us so severely; it would greatly help one’s stress levels to decrease at a faster rate.

On a personal note, my father is a Hindu, and if Prince Harry decided to dress up as a Hindu Pundit when attending a costume party, I would not take offence.

On the contrary, I think I would be flattered and laugh it off that at least Prince Harry is intelligent enough to show off his knowledge of such religious groups.
