Eric Holder looks into misconduct by Bush Administration

Michelle Malsbury, BSBM, MM
When President Obama won the 2008 election Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi, said that they [the Administration in coming] were looking forward and not back. President Obama has oftentimes reiterated that. No doubt America and the Obama Administration have a lot of pressing issues on the table to deal with already, but failure to look into the misconduct by the Bush Administration would be similar to not punishing the people from WWII for war crimes or letting murders run free.

When Nancy Pelosi said she was misled by the CIA during the Bush era she was widely considered a liar by the right. However, Leon Panetta, Director of the CIA, has said that vice-president Cheney asked the CIA to be less than forthright with congress leading up to the war in Iraq. That said, it would be entirely remiss of Eric Holder to do nothing. I applaud his efforts to seek the truth amidst the secrecy that was commonplace during the Bush years. He deserves all of our support.

There has been some discussion about adding more members to the group of eight in congress that were previously to be briefed about such going- ons by the CIA and others in the intelligence community, but I do not believe more people would have made a difference where Bush and Cheney are concerned. They [Bush and Cheney] believed that the laws were created for common folks like you and I, but not for them. Nothing could be further from the truth! And not seeking the truth is equal to covering for them.

If we in America fail to hold our leaders to the same level of honesty, ethics, and integrity that would be part of the job description of any other governmental employee we sleep and sanction that old "do as I say and not as I do" policy that was prevalent when we were children growing up and our parents wanted us to comply with something they would not themselves comply with. For me this is unacceptable. These people were [supposedly---seated by the Supreme Court under much controversy] elected to protect the people of America. If they are allowed to manipulate material facts and tell half-truths that lead us to a war that was unnecessary they should be punished to the fullest extent of the law. Doing so has cost us trillions of dollars and millions of innocent lives, as well as, the respect of other nations and allies around the world.

Leaders are required to lead by example. Words and actions of our leaders should be in concert and not at odds. Eric holder needs to investigate the facts completely and if those facts lead him to conclude that some laws [any laws] were broken then it is his obligation, as Attorney General, to seek justice and nothing less will do! Justice should be the same for all people and not differ if those people happened to hold the highest offices in this land. Allowing them to roam free unpunished should the facts lead to laws broken would send the wrong signal to our friends and foes around the world and set the stage for a regular "wild west" atmosphere where anything can be done with no consequences. That cannot be allowed.

Please write or call your local and state representatives telling them to support a quest to unveil the truth of what transpired under the Bush Administration. Failure to act is costing us more money and lives daily---can we afford to wait? I say not! The time to act is NOW!
