Bathroom design for the elderly have new trend and feature.

For accessibility at home, now there are specific solutions for the elderly. People with disabilities and in wheelchairs are included. Now the concept is much broader and believes important population group. In particular trend is in everything for the elderly. This is a person regardless of age can maintains their independence in daily tasks for many years.

The population over 65 years is growing, and many exceed 80 years living with total independence. In 2014 arrive at the age of 65 years the first born after World War II, the children of the Baby Boom. Many suppliers have addressed this market need and offer many different solutions to a hospital. The ergonomic design and a meticulous aesthetics are very important for new products. Besides roles of accessibility and security is now emphasis on style and aesthetic elements.

For many older people are not so far that the solutions are becoming common at home. It is inevitable that when we study the accessibility of a house and spoke of security features such as bars or rails, nearly all people are rejected and almost all point to the universally ugly solutions that are in the health services of highways and of many hospitals and clinics.

In many relatively new buildings, architectural solutions and equipment do not meet the standards of universal design. For many people, the accessibility and safety are not guaranteed. When we talk about security, we mean that the person suffers no drop. The bathroom should now allow a high accessibility to as many people as possible and that is why we have to take care of many details. The bathrooms for the disabled are now as a special case designed for the bath and especially for older people without a known disability.

When there are children at home do not have enough altitude to attain things, either visually access. The older person has normally problem performing certain movements in a safe way and sometimes suffer accidents because they have no support on hand, not having a bathroom floor that does not slip or absence of a better architectural solution bathing.

The progressive increase of the population over 65 years, with good physical conditions for independent and live alone has caused a major shift in approaches to design. New designs are recognized in many countries seek to ensure safe and accessible living spaces. In Europe the first to introduce these concepts were the Germans with the standards for barrier-free designs.

Then the entire European Union has promoted changes in design standards, both in public and domestic environments. Valid in every country of the European Union there is a design standard for everyone. It is a very broad concept that takes into account the removal of physical barriers, but also mobility, safety, and sensory issues such as lighting, heat, font size, orientation, among others. The United States and Japan is called Universal Design that concept is the same.

The bathroom is a source of problems.

It's the modern paradox, the more people use the bathroom, the bathrooms are more modern and complete, but it is one of the most insecure areas of the house. It is in the bathroom where there are more accidents and falls. For people over 65 years, while being in perfect physical conditions have to avoid falls. Falls speed up more dependence.

Among the measures of universal design is the most attractive they have to do with the sink area, with the bathing area and the area of health. Always, they can add additional support measures. The use of railings and support bars may be considered, but not be placed until they are needed over the years.

In the bathing area is regarded as the safest product very flat shower at ground level. It is the concept of walking in allowing access to most people. For the last few years we can choose shower trays large, good for people who need company. A built in transfer seat and grab bars can make it easier to get in and out of a bathtub.

For bathing area there are now many offers very flat shower trays at ground level. It is the concept of walking in allowing access to most people. There is large size in trend. Thermostatic faucets with cold walls are most in demand. Bathtubs combined with shower are very safe for the elderly. Combined bathtub with access door is the new novelty.

In the area of health, many providers have heeded the new ergonomic studies. Now besides the traditional height of seat on toilets of 14, 5 inch, there are new toilets for older people heighten till 19,5 inch. There are new intelligent toilet with self-discharge cleaning and gently closing system. For healthcare solutions offer many traditional portable hoists. The distance between heaths would allow placement of grab bars for support and transfer.

The sink area is important, because here many times the person is not subject to any support; the heights have to be ergonomically to prevent unsafe movements. The greatest success is achieved when everything is at your fingertips. Sinks with knee space below will allow for a closer approach.

Furniture for the bath is recommended those using heights from 20 inch to 50 inch on soil. This range is safe and older people have well visibility and access with their hands. Furniture with drawers for smooth opening and closing are advisable. In trend are now suspended furniture is ideally suited to these needs.

The remaining spaces are also important.

When surveys are conducted, most people want to live in their own home since they can fend for themselves. It is their space, their relatives and friends. It is the social environment that provides greater security. Many studies confirm that adapting the house when we are still relatively young, the elderly continues for several years with a high quality of independent living.

Is to adapt the space we live gradually to prevent loss of capacities. We need better lighting environments with small changes in temperature, prevent unsafe movements. It is recommended to adapt the kitchen and bathroom to the latest advances in ergonomics. Attention should be given to furniture, often selected by pretty, not by offering better features for our leisure and to gain access them. Very low altitudes in armchairs, sofas and beds cause a huge effort to get up. This daily furniture should be solid, ergonomic, back protectors. Recommended heights are 20 inch above the ground.

Now many countries in the European Union provided support in cash to fund improvements in accessibility at home. Access ramps, expansion of doors, automatic doors in elevators, improved lighting, height of ergonomic knobs and buttons, etc.

The style is also seen

Until very recently, all the accessories and adaptations for disabled people were unattractive designs. The administration has promoted the new design concept for the elderly through "design for all" or "universal design". There has been attractive to manufacturers now produce special series for seniors. Emerging new product series with all the features, but design lists for seniors.

New developments include the whole branches of bath products. There are included all king of accessories, bar support, solutions for bathtubs and shower trays, accessible furniture. Once seemed difficult now beginning to be common. With very good accessibility for those who need it, but with perfect design for the rest is now offering many bathrooms furniture, sinks, shower systems, faucets, mirrors, etc.

Traditional stainless steel or white lacquer for different bars and accessories allow now new materials, finished and designs. Colors burst in the accessible bathroom, use of mat finish, knobs of wood or porcelain. Most bars and accessories are now slender, ergonomic. At first glance does not seem to fill a disability and that is it. The new designs of the many companies are introducing new series joining the dimensional requirements of current trends in finishes, shapes, etc.
