A Polite Message from Wesley Clark.
Hello Joseph,
We've come a long way in just a few years. In 2003, when people first started to talk to me about jumping into politics and running a campaign for President, President Bush was very popular, the war in Iraq had a lot of support, and Republicans were seen as the "Party of National Security."
I knew that this had to change. I knew that the Iraq invasion was a mistake from the start and a disaster in implementation. I knew that President Bush and his team were making enormous mistakes that would take a huge amount of work to correct. And I knew that Democrats like me had the better answers for today's national security challenges.
And I knew that we needed to do a better job keeping the promise America made to her veterans.
So I ran. I joined with other great Democrats - like John Kerry - to fight for a smart national security policy and better care for our returning servicemen and women. I joined with others, like you, who got active throughout America to try to turn the tide in this country toward better policies.
And I'm still fighting for that. We've come a long way. George Bush is no longer President, the Republican Party no longer has a presumed advantage on national security, and we have beaten that party repeatedly where it matters: in the voting booth. But we still have a ways to go.
I'm still fighting for better care for our veterans, for a smart policy in the Middle East and throughout the world, and I've worked hard for a new, clean energy economy. That's why I'm asking you to support me by making a contribution at this link:

When I ran for President in the 2004 election, I was not a professional politician, I didn't have a rolodex of big donors and a fundraising network across the country. I ran because I believed it was right. And, since then, I've been fighting full-time for our causes, so I'm asking you to join John Kerry in helping me retire that debt from that campaign, so I can keep out there fighting for our values.
Because, for all our progress, we still have many challenges to put our country on the right path, and keep it there. Our veterans still have to fight too hard for the care they need, and sometimes their efforts are not enough. Our national debate is still dominated too much by old thinking, born in the Cold War and unsuited to our present challenges. And we have a long way to go to build a prosperous future of an economy powered by clean alternative energy.
So, please do what you can to help, and we can win this long fight together.
Thank you,
Wes Clark
