FAST TRACKS FUTILITY FAILS TO ADDRESS HYPER-POPULATION LOADING

"Taken for a Ride" Denver Post, Holst/Kemp 3/8/09

In stunningly deceptive op-eds in the Denver Post by Kevin Holst and Lee Kemp, both ignored the accelerating hyper-population growth factor concerning Fast Tracks. Both neglected to enlighten Coloradans about adding five to six million people to Colorado in 40 years. Both fail to present the whole picture, the whole story, the whole enchilada.

Greg Griffin covered the incredible costs, but again, not a word about the ultimate failure when you add two million people to Denver and another five million to Colorado in a few decades. Now that´s astounding!

Fast Tracks cannot and will not succeed any more than T-Rex in the final analysis. Both the Denver Post and the writers failed to include in their themes the fact that we cannot accommodate five to six million more people in Colorado from the standpoint of water, gridlock traffic and accelerating turmoil on I-70 into the mountains.

Why? Such population loading cannot be sustained. It cannot work. It will not work. It will fail. Once that happens, and it´s already here today, we all sit in gridlock, misery and breathing toxic air pollution. Bet you´re busting a gut in anticipation for another 1.2 million cars in Denver traffic!

If Fast Tracks succeeds with completion, much like a Faustian Bargain, we sell our success for today for our failure to future generations tomorrow.

Last month, Channel 9 News Mark Koebrich said as he wrinkled his brow, "Denver expects an added two million people in the near future."

Lee Kemp, chairman of the Regional Transportation District´s board of directors, said, "The FasTracks plan provides a long-term solution of efficient, frequent and reasonably priced alternatives to the gas-consuming automobile and excessive petroleum costs."

To that, I say, "Patently and unequivocally, false, nada, not possible and guaranteed to

fail!"

"The task of simultaneously increasing population and achieving sustainability is impossible."

That cogent quote applies to transportation Band-Aids!

What bothers me, and it should bother you, the Denver Post and all its editors and writers dance around the only solution, and I guarantee this is the only solution: population stabilization! We either accomplish it or Mother Nature will solve it brutally.

So, what do you Denver Post elites fear from addressing this issue head on instead of dancing around like a bunch of ducks at a shooting arcade? I challenge your journalistic integrity to come forth and write a series on the simple fact that this state cannot keep expanding human population forever. We cannot keep adding people, cars, highways and, above all, Fast Tracks! Why? That only encourages more growth!

Get it? Understand it?

Do you understand the enormity of the crisis? How about that your kids will be swimming in the human soup bowl of another added five to six million people to Colorado? How about Denver with another two million people and 1.2 million cars? How about the water crisis caused by hyper-population growth?

What causes your fear? What makes you tiptoe around reality? When will you come out of hiding?

Like the Rocky Mountain News that lost its life because of blatant failure to address the problems facing Colorado, you follow John Temple´s path. You cannot harbor your old 20th century paradigms in the 21st century.

We stand in the crosshairs of water issues, energy problems, gridlock, and so much more—caused by hyper-population growth.

Stand up like a courageous newspaper instead of an office full of barnyard chickens afraid to cluck when you know the fox scratches at the entrance. Instead of literary cowardice, instead of waiting until another five million people land on top of this state, take a stand today for your children and the future of this civilization. Write on!

Actions and results:

1. Moratorium on all new home building and business expansion.

a. This would stabilize population that would stabilize traffic and people congestion.

2. Refurbish and rebuild infrastructure around the state to bring a higher quality of roads and rebuilt inner cities.

a. This would allow excellent roads, excellent upkeep, modernize what we have and create greater efficiency.

3. Build more open space and quality parks for spiritual and mental sanity within Denver and other cities to become a model for other states.

a. This would help people relax, enjoy nature, fulfill their spiritual need to touch nature which would mean less Aleve headaches and road rage since you actually arrived home 30 minutes earlier daily.

4. Concentrate on cleaning up the toxic Brown Cloud we all breathe with every breath.

a. Such actions would allow us to move toward healthier and cleaner air to breathe.

b. We would no longer be able to ´see´ the air we breathe. Our lungs would clear as well as our minds as we once again served oxygen to our brains.

5. Get to know your neighbors!

a. Instead of cursing, flipping the bird and texting to someone you barely know other than electronically, you could actually talk to your neighbors an create community.

6. Let´s propose a "Colorado Sustainable Population Policy" that would become the envy of the world.

a. Such a policy would bring a new paradigm shift to a stable, energy efficient and rich legacy for Colorado and the world.

b. Instead o chasing our tails mindlessly like a dog, let´s act with reason and visionary solutions.

7. Finally, we would enjoy enough water, pure air, unhurried and sane lie along with the ability to travel to the mountains in winter and summer with eased and grace to enjoy our recreation periods instead of bumper to bumper that makes u want to slice our collective throats.

Does that make sense or what?! If it does, send it to all your friends, to every city in the nation and speak up about a new way to deal with our congested cities! Your kids will thank you! Let´s promote a "US Sustainable Population Policy" the envy of the world!

Sooner or later, we will arrive at population balance. Either by our own or nature´s hand! Which would you rather see for your children?
