Federal Bailout Money and Tax Havens! Who´s Right and Who´s Wrong?

Woody Bavota
Eighty-three of the one hundred largest U.S. corporations are reported to operate dozen´s if not hundreds of subsidiaries in tax havens. Now the real question is, who is right and who is wrong? Are these companies taking away much need taxes because of greed or necessity? Could this many people feel the need for greed? Or is the tax structure of that, forcing them to protect some of their assets.

For years now Government has jumped head first into multi-trillion dollar decisions that affect every single man, woman and child for potential decades. Some times for the better and sometimes for the worse. In better times, bragging rights boast billions in reserve; some goes back to us, but generally not enough to grow our country. But the biggest asset of the reserve seems to always go to the politicians, in the form of reelection.

People always freak out about giving away their hard earned funds and Government just expects it. For once may both sides, instead of placing their collective brilliance to combat each other, step back, take the time to study each others resolve and come to a human steadfastness.

And yes, giving to the arts does benefit us all in the long run. Any naysayers please research the multitude of studies that provide definitive information to the facts that the Arts greatly enhance the student´s intellectual capacity as well as provide a wonderfully structured discipline. Sounds like a sturdy business plan to me.

In the worse of times, now! We are hemorrhaging money to US companies, which are pouring it everywhere in and out of our country to little avail. Don´t get me wrong, I totally agree that a portion of the bailout money was necessary to prevent the collapse of the US as we know it.

But giving billions of dollars to fourteen companies that are known to have hundreds of subsidiaries in tax havens was just wrong. Our Government has known of these fourteen companies tax havens for years now. What is the point of giving our money to these corporations, already having matching funds if not more tucked away off shore? Isn´t there some sort of moral factor here? Or are Americans all about competing with each other to see if we can outsmart ourselves? Well guess what we have outsmarted each other to the point that we may never recover to what we have known.

US Securities and Exchange Commission stop being so lenient to only having corporations report their significant subsidiaries listed in tax havens. And corporations that have undetected billions stop taking away our American dream.

President Obama is trying to resolve this mess that we are in. Good, bad or indifferent he is working on it. Don't you think that the last thing that we need in this day and age, particularly considering our current turmoil, is our political parties pitted against each other? Aren't we are all Americans? Please especially if you do not agree; open your mind to help, in support of our President to succeed.
