Psychological war: North Korean philosophy

United States strengthens its missile defense system in Hawaii. This extra safety measures is for North Korea if they seriously consider of any attack on American soil. One Japanese newspaper reported North Korea may launch missile attack targeting Hawaii. Although experts believe North Korea´s missile will not reach Hawaii. But still this is for the safeguard to avoid any unexpected situation.
North Korea however threatened United States to demolish it. This is weird. It seems North is intentionally trying to escalate tension in the region. Analysts are certain that this is basically showing his strength to his country. North Korean leader Kim Jong Il recently proposed his 26 years old son as his successor. To add strength on his son´s profile he is probably using anti-American sentiment and making challenging comments like intention for bulldoze U.S. Jong Il perhaps is thinking of setting up an image of an uncompromising leader to his nation. Such image will help his son to get enough sympathy from his party.
Recently United States is closely monitoring a North Korean ship heading towards Myanmar which is suspected for transporting weapons and nuclear know-how in what would be a violation of a UN embargo on Pyongyang's arms sales. Earlier North has announced if any of its ship is checked it will consider that a declaration of war. U.S. is yet to decide whether to search North Korea´s ship or not. If they want to search the ship they have to wait until it stopped in a destination for refueling. So, U.S. has time to spare until the ship reaches any destination.
Question is what North Korea will do if U.S. and its allies will check its vessel. If North Korea decided to attack on U.S. soil they have their long range missile Taepo Dong-2. But this Taepo Dong-2 can go far as 4,500 km (2,800 statute miles), distance much shorter then Hawaii. So Taepo Dong-2 is not very significant threat for U.S. Around twenty five thousand U.S. troops are stationed near North Korean border in South Korea. North Koreans are believed to have an expertise in guerilla warfare. Guerilla attack inside South Korea is capable to do some significant damage. Along with this another close U.S. ally Japan is also very close and within the range of North Korea´s Taepo Dong-2 missile. U.S. military base in Japan´s southern Island Okinawa is also inside the Taepo Dong´s reach. These are the major concern for the United States.
Nuclear armed North is still not capable to make atomic bomb now. Some believes they are few years behind from making an atomic bomb. But ignoring their ability can be deadly. It is very difficult to judge what North Korea and its leader is thinking. They always used their nuclear facilities for multipurpose. Sometimes they took money from international community promising them to decommission their nuclear project. Now they resume their nuclear project may be to focus on Kim Jong Il´s son as their future leader.
After posing enormous pressure on the international community North Korea will make big mistake if at the heat of the moment they launch any silly attack on any of its neighbor or to U.S. Consequences of the initiation of such attack can be deadly for North Korea far as dislodge the Asia´s longest monarchy.
