LOCAL CELEBRITIES WASH THE FEET of SKID ROW´S DISPLACED

Los Angeles - Tom Arnold, Teddy Riley, Kenny Lattimore, Brandon Fobbs, Essence Atkins, Claudia Wells, Ananda Lewis, Antonia Cromartie, Howard Hewett, and other celebrities are on tap to join The ASHÉ Foundation as they wash the feet of the displaced on Skid Row and place new socks and adequate shoes on their feet in the courtyard of The Midnight Mission on June 24, 2009 in Los Angeles.

"I´m excited that these prominent men and women of Los Angeles have decided to take time out of their lives to join The ASHÉ Foundation in loving and serving the disadvantaged of our community," said The ASHÉ Founder and movie producer Dion Fearon.

Fearon founded the organization in March 2008 because of a passion to provide sensible shoes for millions of children orphaned by AIDS in African nations. ASHE gathers and distributes shoes, clothing, other necessities, and provides other services to aid the disadvantaged and underprivileged children of African nations. With the help of her church family, "Living Waters of the San Fernando Valley, The Kanimambo Foundation, Facebook friends, and many others from the community, Fearon was successfully able to hand deliver over 3500 pair of shoes to a crowd of 7000 in Maputo, Mozambique this past January, which marked the first mission trip for the foundation.

"The outpouring of support from the Los Angeles community has been amazing. While The ASHÉ Foundation was founded to help the less fortunate of another nation, we realize that we have displaced, disadvantaged, and under privileged right here in our own backyard. The Midnight Mission event was born out of that realization," Fearon said.

The purpose of The Midnight Mission is to offer a bridge to self-sufficiency for homeless people through counseling, education, training and job placement; make available the necessities of life to homeless people; food, shelter, clothing, personal hygiene needs, and medical care; offer the 12-step approach to recovery; serve homeless people with empathy and respect, without sermonizing and provide for the homeless as an independent social service agency.

The Midnight Mission´s Managing Director, Clancy Imislund is the event speaker. A recovering alcoholic himself, and a staff member for the mission since 1973, Clancy brings a level of empathy that is difficult to match. He was a leading force for the organization through the dramatic changes that occurred on Skid Row over the last thirty years.

"On an on-going basis we receive thousands of donations of new or lightly worn shoes and clothing that stretch from local California communities to the states of Washington, Illinois, Georgia, New Jersey and many others state wide communities. In addition, companies like Sony Entertainment, CROCS and Feed the Children continue to solicit and support our mission to change the world two feet at a time," said Fearon.

Fearon said The ASHÉ Foundation receives so many shoe donations that they are now finding it challenging to store all the shoes as well as pay for shipping them all to Africa. Successful partnership, sponsorship, donors and volunteers are needed to guarantee the foundations success and allow them to change the world two feet at a time.

The ASHÉ Foundation and its volunteers expect to wash and place adequate shoes and socks on the feet of hundreds of men and displaced individuals at the event where light snacks and entertainment will also be served.
