Evening Grace - Elder Care At It's best in Northridge, CA

Holly Addy
As your parents or your spouse's parents get older, they will probably need your help. They will also possibly need professional help with their daily care and quality of living. The very people whom you depended on in the past will now be turning to you for assistance.

You may have promised your parents when they were healthy and of sound mind that you would never put them in a nursing home or like facility. The reality is the majority of us are not equipped to deal with dementia, physical infirmities, Alzheimer´s disease, and other aspects of the aging process. Most of us still harbor faint memories of a time long past when our elders were cared for by the family in their homes and you may feel or experience guilt if you are unable to do so.

To say that this is a stressful decision for both you and your parents is a gross understatement - each of you may face emotions that literally jump off the chart

from denial, anger, fear to utter helplessness.

Letting go of a lifestyle that is known is a daunting process, but when the time comes - there are many great success stories of excellent elder care available that can transition your loved one into a happy and healthful quality of life.

One such facility is Evening Grace - a residential care facility for the elderly

Located in the prestigious Sherwood Forest neighborhood of Northridge, CA just south of CSUN - California State University Northridge.

Evening Grace is a two house assisted living experience. Each of the houses provides a warm, homey environment where the ratio of caregivers is 1 for every 2 residents - essentially one on one care (including night care if necessary) and therefore there is more personalized attention to the residents' needs and desires.

The two homes are side by side and are elegant and spacious with private or shared rooms or suites and large common areas for the residents.

Owner and Administrator Diana Kenez and her staff maintain an uptone, happy environment of care and CARING for each resident. I personally have seen several residents arrive unresponsive and in a very short amount of time become responsive once again due to the amount of attention and interaction they have received.

Diana carefully handpicks her staff that besides caring for the basic and medical needs of each resident interacts and work with each person to ensure that they have a viable quality of life.

When you enter Evening Grace, you notice at once that it is an active as well as interactive environment. On Wednesday, there is a session of trivia questions and games with Michael Solomon and a weekly sing-along on Saturday mornings of hits from the 30's, 40's and 50's for an hour and the staff plans movies, games and does karaoke with the residents during the week.

It turns out that everyone, including owner Diana and her staff, love music and so Evening Grace has become a very musical environment for everyone.

The facility is spotless and shining and each bedroom or suite is furnished and ready and waiting for the resident's personal items and touches. Diana helped decorate one suite in a western themed style complete with the cowboy boots and other memorabilia of the resident.

Inviting meals of American and European cuisine are served as well as delicious snacks which are available throughout the day.

Duke the dog and Tiger the cat who decided this was a great place for him to be as well round out the Evening Grace family.

Evening Grace is dedicated to excellent care, whether the resident needs minimal assistance of full-on care including hospice.

This mission statement of Evening Grace is best summed up in...."Life is more accurately measured by the lives we touch than by the things we acquire."

Testimonial

"...I have never seen any staff anywhere so kind and caring and who genuinely enjoy all of the residents as I have experienced at Evening Grace. I would highly recommend anyone looking for the best care and living experience possible for their elderly loved ones to choose Evening Grace." ALH
