What's the obsession with Sarah Palin?

Before we elected our last president and when we still had two parties competing for that job there began a media and right wing obsession about everything Palin. Why?

When I first saw her debut as the running mate for Senator McCain I thought she might have some potential. However, the more I saw of her the more I found her lacking. She could not hold up under interviews with even the simplest questions. She could not hold up in debates with Senator Joe Biden. She could not even recall what, if anything, she read. Pretty scary for a would be leader of the free world!

Sarah Palin´s Wikipedia entry was scrubbed clean and dubbed by the Rovian hand just hours before McCain announced her as his running mate. I still have my doubts if she ever graduated from high school, let alone any college or university, from the low and extremely limited vocabulary she regularly uses in her interviews and speeches. Recall her flirtatious winks in the debates??? I do. It was unclear to me if she was either, auditioning for a job on one of those reality television shows, or trying to get a date. Whatever her intent it came off as cheap and amateurish.

Governor Palin paraded her children in front of the cameras when it suited her in the run up for the election and now she is changing her tune. Toward that end, her own teenage, single mother, daughter has been in more than a few interviews of her own----did mother, Sarah Palin, have anything to say about that? I do not recall hearing anything. Yet when David Letterman had some jokes, and yes they were jokes----that is his job as a comedian to make fun of people and situations----she, Sarah Palin, felt compelled to take exception to them and twist them into something they clearly were not, personal insults. David Letterman did apologize, but that was not enough for the school yard bully Sarah Palin----she wanted more----like maybe his job.

If the republican party sees fit to use her to help garner contributions to their causes, whatever they may be, then great, but if they really want her to be their next president I suggest we send them all for a psychological evaluation. She has no idea of international policy, domestic policy, or even how our government works. Recall when she said she looked forward to [paraphrase] expanding the duties of the vice-presidency??? I offer this statement as evidence that she is clueless about what the vice-president actually does. Pretty scary considering that kids learn that in grade school! Just this past week she took a slam at government, in general, and said that it [government] was a bad thing----especially if it was too large----yet she seems to forget that she is part of a government, at least in the state of Alaska.

Can´t the republican party find credible, intelligent leaders who can compete in the world arena? Or are they doomed to raising the likes of Sarah Palin and Joe the Plumber, who was not actually a plumber, to positions of leadership? I say keep looking it cannot be that hard to find someone, anyone, better than those two!
