Middle-East Peace: Understanding the reality

Joe Fleishman
What Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is thinking? Will he return from his stands? He is in dilemma. If he denies moving from his preplanned road regarding middle-east peace there is a good chance he will at least make U.S. unhappy. On the other hand if he follows what U.S is expecting his coalition may come under threat. Difficult days are laying a head for Benjamin Netanyahu.

However, right at this moment Israel decided to continue expansion of new settlements in the occupied territory. Despite the Americaīs call for stop the expansion Israel is not taking the matter seriously. Israeli view is natural growth of Israeli settlements is completely their rights, in case of natural growth of Arabs is protected by the concrete wall. As a result Arabīs cannot grow any farther but Israelis can go as far they want!

U.S. President Barak Obama has urged Israelis to accept the reality of two country solutions but the Netanyahu government is not willing to comply with the U.S. demand. Itīs an eccentric situation where Israelis are not eager to give up anything but looking for the peace. Perhaps, Israelis are thinking they have very little role to play. They will continue expansion their settlement in Palestinians land and peace will automatically knock at the door – it will be their decision whether to open the door for peace or not. But this is may be a far cry. Peace will not come if both sides are not willing to shake their hands and ready for some sacrifice.

Most of the Israelis though are not concern that Israelīs disagreements will jeopardize U.S. – Israel relationship. They think even if the settlement will continue their natural growth their close bond U.S will not come under any pressure. Some Israelis believe to survive as a country Israel must allow settlers natural growth.

It is the most unfortunate matter for Israelis that even after half a century later Israel is still skeptical about their future existence. After half a century Israelis are prohibited from half of the world, half of the world is not accepting Israel as a sovereign nation. Is this what Israelis are expecting? Do they want to live in hostile environment and isolated from the world?

President Barak Obamaīs speech has already helped the world to see the reality. But surprisingly Israel is still in darkness. They are behaving like as if they are still living in a holocaust era thatīs why they are worrying about their existence and trying to grab as much land as possible. This negative view is more damaging for Israeli society than their rival Palestinians are doing. It is imminent that today or tomorrow one day Israel has to comply with the worldīs opinion. Nevertheless, what these wasting times will give them?

Believe it or not Palestinian issue is one of the most bothersome troubles for the world. Decades of negotiation is found worthless because of unwillingness and mistrust. This tiny little landscape is always holding worldīs attention but because of few reluctant political leaders trouble and hate is continuing generation after generation. Yet nobody knows when a little child in Gaza will wakeup in the morning without any fear, nobody knows when the true peace will come in the region.
