President Obama under the microscope

Michelle Malsbury, BSBM, MM
Ever since his inauguration President and Michelle Obama have been placed under a magnifying glass. In recent years of watching and writing about various Presidents´ I cannot recall so much scrutiny or analysis, and over even the smallest things, as we have over our First Family now. Every move made and each word spoken by either Obama is either taken as gospel or twisted beyond recognition depending on what side of the political fence one sits.

For instance, President Obama gives a very inclusive speech in Egypt where he emphasizes how important it is for world leaders to unite in the fight against extreme groups who hope to scare our people by perpetuating awful and ghastly deeds and what do some of his critics say? That he is soft on terror or too fast to speak to our Islamic counterparts---who I might add are not ALL bad people as the right would have us think. Islam is the fastest growing religion in the world and to be so unintelligent as to think that ALL Muslim people are extremists is nothing short of demented, twisted, and hideously stupid!

When President Obama gives a regular gift, the iPod, to the Queen of England the right says it was a low-life and unreasonable thing to do. Why can´t a young intelligent leader give his English counterpart a gift from modern times that bodes how far the world has come in a technological sense? I say get over it right!

This last election, more than any before, was about change and change is what President Obama is all about. Already he has accomplished more than any other in his short term in office and has more that he is pushing to do before year´s end. I applaud his ambitious agenda and wish him well in his lengthy list of things to do!

If anyone from the right has a suggestion for how to move our country forward and out of this recession/depression let him or her speak up and offer their plan. To date there have been no thoughtful or credible plans offered by the republicans in congress. They have seriously become the party of no.

The republican party cannot seem to locate a leader except for the radio extremist and exorcist, Rush or the voice of Abu Ghrab and wars past, Cheney. And because they have no leadership they look at each and every thing done by the Family Obama and stick in their knives and twist. They do not listen to their voters who crossed party lines and voted for our new President. They do not try to become more mainstream in hopes of tempting those lost voters back. Instead they spew hateful rhetoric that is unfit for anyone above the level of high school education in a school yard fight. They find themselves on the same level as those who wish to do us and the world harm and they say their party kept us safer----I say not!!!

Unless you, on the right, want to be under the microscope yourself and can seriously pass the muster of that tight spot then I say talk about what you can do, if you can do anything at all, and not about petty things that do nothing to help America or the world out from under this economic fight, instead of interpreting the subliminal meaning of handshakes, iPods, clothing, or outings. Try to concentrate on something that actually matters like healthcare, education, or welfare reform! Instead of being the party of no, do your part as elected public servants. Try to work together, in a non-partisan fashion, toward the common good of the people who saw fit to send you there.

Viva Obama!
