SOCCER WORLD CUP...WATCH, ENJOY AND SEE WHO WILL BE THE CHAMPION

As a big soccer fan, I am somewhat sad that I will not be in Germany watching some fantastic games in person. I will be like most watching the live and time delay broadcasts on ESPN, ESPN2, ABC or on my favorite Univision station in Spanish. This year the United States has a good opportunity to advance once again to the quarter final berth as long as they take care of the Czech Republic on their opening game on June 12th.
The USA National team has some strong players that can score and put the pressure on any defense. With the suave Brian McBride ready to score some goals, and by game time Claudio Reyna will be available after being out the second half of May with a strained right hamstring. Landon Donovan is the one that will navigate the USA team in the midfield and Eddie Pope will be one of the strong defender for the team. Of course we cannot forget the experience of goalkeeper Kasey Keller. The USA team definitely has an experienced team that is well balanced and has the quickness that it needs to keep the pressure on any team that they face. In this group F Italy should be the group leader unless the USA who is playing under dog against Czech Republic can get inspired and beat the Czech’s and then play a strong game against Italy and go for a second upset.
In group A Germany will be the favorite and Poland should be able to advance. In group B, England will be the favorite and Sweden should also advance. In Group C, Argentina will be the favorite and the Netherlands might surprise them and also advance, either way they will both advance. In Group D, Portugal will be the favorite and Mexico can give them a run for their money and both should advance. In Group E, Brazil will once again be the favorite and Croatia should also advance. In group G, France will be the favorite but Switzerland with their young players should also advance and give that group some great games. In Group H, Spain will be the favorite, even though they have not been playing to par. The Ukraine should also advance in this group.
When it comes to watching the young players on the pitch you need to look for the two sexy Swiss players that are getting the attention of the many female fans. Blerim Dzemaili and Valon Behrami should win the Beckham sexy award. Be on the lookout for some of the following young players that should do well for their national teams. From Spain we have Francesc Fabegas, from Iran we have Hossein Kaabi, from Korea keep an eye on Jim Kiu Kim. Christian Benitez is another player to watch when it comes to the young players.
The bottom line is that when it comes to Futbol (Soccer) it is okay for those that are not fans to check out the games. It is truly a World Cup and even though the games can have the low scores that American fans don’t appreciate, a true soccer fan can appreciate the great plays, the great saves by the goalkeepers and the great shots that barely miss or hit a the goal post. When it comes to the World Cup the fans are animated like always, and the Countries involved are playing for national pride and in many cases for large financial bonuses. So enjoy it is only once every four years and as you watch it on your television just remember that you need to root for the team that represents your country, even though the most bought jersey anywhere in the worlds is the gold and green Brazil jersey that many wear that love the style of soccer that the Brazilians bring to the world.
