Thank you for this interview, Dorothea. Can you tell us briefly what your latest book, Second Chance at Your Dream, is all about?

Second Chance at Your Dream is a practical book about ways to enhance life while engaging in healthy and stress-free aging. The principles and research of the new science of energy psychology are the foundation for the over fifty self-care exercises designed to relieve tension, center oneself and cope with various challenges of later life. Itīs a fun book and I enjoyed writing it!

Can you tell us what or who was the inspiration behind your book?

I heard many of my clients over the years speak about aging as something to be feared. I was convinced there must be a better way to cope with later life challenges especially since I had learned energy self-care tools early on in my careers. So I began exploring what was helpful to my clients and tested the ideas out on my friends as well.

Is this your first published book and if so, can you tell us your experiences in finding a publisher for it?

This is my first book for "the trades" i.e. the public as my other five books are oriented toward healthcare professionals. Finding Dawson Church, editor of his own energy psychology press, was easy as he came to conferences sponsored by the organization I co-founded.

How has Dawson Church of energy psychology press been to work with?

Really great! Heīs so enthusiastic about energy psychology as a whole and very supportive.

Do you have an agent?

No.

Can you tell us how long it took you to write your book and also how long it took from the time Dawson Church sent the contract and the time it was released?

I took about 9 months to write the book (long enough to have a real-life baby if I were younger). The contract came in March and the book went to press Sept 1. It reached the bookshelves Dec. 15, 2008.

Do you have any words of inspiration from other writers who would like to be wearing your shoes?

Keep writing, donīt let things distract you, write for the newspaper, journals, let your ideas coalesce over time and learn all you can.

I understand that you are touring with Pump Up Your Book Promotion in June via a virtual book tour. Can you tell us all why you chose a virtual book tour to promote your book online?

Itīs something new I want to try. I like new ideas. Also, I want to increase internet visibility for the book—I think it can help many people but they need to know about it.
