Impose Naval Blockade On Somaliland, But Not On Alshabaab Terrorists
Dr. Megalommatis´s "article" entitled, "Blockade of Somaliland, Puntland and all Somali Harbours But Mogadishu: the Only Answer to Piracy" doesn´t provide panacea for piracy but reveals his enmity against peaceful and democratic republic of Somaliland.
Although Puntland remains an attractive pirate den, Dr. Megalommatis doesn´t provide a shred of evidence to support why Somaliland should be choked. Imagine if someone screams with obnoxious shrills that you should be arrested, yet when you ask that person why he/she mumbles—and has no clue why.
Instead of stating reasons behind his plot to blockade Somaliland he uses as a reference for an article that not only states how Somaliland apprehends pirates before they even launch attacks but also explains why Somaliland has fewer problems with piracy.
Fortunately, the reliable article that he uses for references states, "In 2006, Somali fisherman Farah Ismail became a pirate. But before he was able to hijack any ships, he was caught red-handed with his pirate gear — weapons, a boat, a ladder — and sentenced to 15 years in Mandhera prison near Berbera, Somaliland." The article continues, "Somaliland … steers clear of the commotion in the other regions. It has had fewer problems with pirates, in part because there is peace in Somaliland. The region also has a small coast guard." Now see Dr. Megalommatis rants, and the embedded referenced article. http://www.americanchronicle.com/articles/view/102566
How on earth did Dr. Megalommatis miss the preceding excerpts baffles many people. However, his villain attacks towards Somaliland—without a doubt—blurred his vision beyond repair. Unknowingly he references articles that unambiguously point out why Somaliland navy should be strengthened to combat piracy. Because he abhors Somaliland so much his excessive loathing not only clouded his judgement but also compromised his vision. For Dr. Megalommatis this is really an embarrassing case.
Now Examine International News Outlets´ Piracy Reports from Somaliland
Newsweek writes, "…nearly all of Somalia's pirates come from one region (Puntland), live in a single town (Boosaaso) and stash captured vessels in one of three ports (Eyl, Hobyo or Haradhere)—making interdiction that much easier." Newsweek doesn´t mention Somaliland whatsoever because Somaliland coastguards keep pirates at bay. http://www.newsweek.com/id/171315/output/print
Another reported who recently visited Somaliland writes, "Somaliland was almost a pleasure to work in -- not as hot and pirate-infested as Puntland " http://tinyurl.com/pkneou
Yet, another eyewitness who travelled with Somaliland coastguards details their fight against piracy. Even the German couple who were recently freed from pirate dens in Puntland are now in Somaliland to rebuild their yacht in port Berbera, Somaliland. http://tinyurl.com/phkua2
The article from the preceding link also states pirates now have better guns and speedboats than Somaliland coastguards have. This scenario is what I predicted in my article entitled, "Somaliland: The World Arms Pirates While It Disarms Somaliland Navy "published in October 2008. http://www.awdalnews.com/wmview.php?ArtID=10672
Despite Dr. Megalommatis´ insane proposal, the African Union AU demands a naval blockade against Alshabaab controlled ports. http://tinyurl.com/pmule8 Also what he doesn´t tell you is: the Somaliland port Barbera he wants to barricade is used to deliver desperately needed food for millions of landlocked Ethiopians. http://tinyurl.com/p4bwjd
Choking Off "The" Champion of Democracy and Human Rights in Horn of Africa
The country—Somaliland—which Dr. Megalommatis wants to choke is the most admired nations in Horn of Africa for promoting democracy and upholding human rights.
L.A Times writes, "For most of the last decade, Somaliland's governance and human rights record have drawn praise, particularly compared with those of its neighbors. Somaliland boasts free speech and private newspapers. Its population voluntarily disarmed, reconciled and transitioned into an elected, civilian government." '"The government in Somaliland has a better human rights record than any other government in the Horn, including Kenya,"' said Chris Albin-Lackey, an analyst at Human Rights Watch." adds L.A Times.

Also, as the ancient Chinese proverb says, "A picture is worth a thousand words", so just to get a glimpse of Somaliland and Somalia let´s dwell on few facts: Somaliland just celebrated its birthday on May 18th. That is, 18 years of peace and tranquility in Somaliland. See breath-taking pictures of Somaliland people celebrating the 18th birthday of their country: http://tinyurl.com/o5w8ap It is also gearing up for the upcoming second presidential election in September 2009.
On the other hand, Alshabaab ran Somalia just begins another free fall. See appalling images of Alshabaab controlled Somalia: http://www.viiphoto.com/showstory.php?nID=843 Now who should we blockade: the peace-loving people of Somaliland or Alshabaab?
Never mind Dr. Megalommatis´s nonsensical arguments. Here is what the real pundits of Africa think of Somaliland: "Somaliland: Africa´s Best Kept Secret" by professor Iqbal Jhazbhay http://www.iss.co.za/pubs/asr/12no4/jhazbay.pdf and "Somaliland: The Little Country that Could" by David H. Debunking Al-Qeada, Alshabaab, Al-NSUM and Dr. Megalommatis´s Plot Disguised as a Panacea for Piracy
Dr. Megalommatis is on they payroll of Egypt which vehemently opposes Somaliland independence. In fact, Egypt has successfully lobbied against Somaliland recognition. Also, Egypt wants to rid of the current Somali president Sheikh Shariif because through the eyes of Cairo, he is not strong enough to wreck havoc in Ethiopia and force Somaliland to unit with Somalia. Egypt wants to use united Somalia as a bulwark against Ethiopia if Nile River crises between Egypt and Ethiopia flare up.
Now having Dr. Megalommatis in charge of the Disinformation Department DD on the war against Somaliland, with his doctorial degree Egypt hopes that his shrills will influence International opinions. But there is one thing missing in the wicked plot: a rebel group.
A violent group called NSUM jumped on the wagon. In 2008, the NSUM´s military wing SUDA led by a ruthless warmonger named Col. Cabdul Casis launched terrorists attacks against Somaliland. The NSUM confessed funding the bombings. In the following audio clip the head of the NSUM in the U.S. Abdirahman Mohammed Isman (Abdi Boobe) admits funding Col. Cabdul Casis terrorist campaign against Somaliland. http://tinyurl.com/q3kbbp Dr. Megalommatis is also a self-nominated spokes person of the NSUM. See my article about the NSUM and Dr. Megalommatis´s unholy alliance: http://www.americanchronicle.com/articles/view/102889
With his words Dr. Megalommatisommatis demands a violent bloodshed against Somaliland as he states, "Can NSUM and Patriotic Forces Lead the People to Insurgence?" He adds, "…immediately launch violent campaigns and lead the North Somalis to insurgence… " http://tinyurl.com/d33rsf
To top it up, Dr. Megalommatis is an Alshabaab sympathiser who calls violent campaign against Somaliland and Somalia. By the way, the United States declared Alshabaab as a terrorist group with links to Al-Qaida.
Currently, over 400 hundred foreign fighters wreck havoc in Somalia, and Dr. Megalommatis too as a non-Somali incites chaos through his writings. He demands "any" one out there to unleashes a reign of terror against the new Somali government. "… it is urgent for Somalia´s patriotic forces, Islamist or not, to coordinate their efforts against Somalia´s new traitor, the gullible and subservient, corrupt and deceitful Sheikh Sharif, and eliminate him as soon as possible." states Dr. Megalommatis.
http://www.americanchronicle.com/articles/view/103154
Dr. Megalommatis screams not to impose a naval blockade on Mogadishu—a terrorist infested city. In other words, don´t hamper the hundreds of Al-Qaeda foreign fighters who flock to Mogadishu to overthrow the new Somali government; and don´t interrupt the Eritrean military boats loaded with Egyptians weapons arriving Mogadishu port to strengthen Alshabaab forces.
Even Alshabab leader Sheikh Hassan Dahir Aweys unequivocally admits receiving support from Eritrea and foreign fighters. He states, "Eritrea supports us…there may be two or three Arabs who were moved by Islam to fight alongside us."
http://markacadeey.com/may/20090523_1e.htm
Eritrea also vehemently opposes Somaliland independence. Just like Egypt, since Eritrea is at war with Ethiopia, Asmara—Eritrean capital—benefits from unified Somali forces as to use them against Ethiopia. http://tinyurl.com/d87eqh
Conclusion
Dr. Megalommatis has yet to master how to dissemble his automatic villain attacks towards Somaliland. But, his dogged pursuit of attacking Somaliland recently revealed how far he is willing to go. He explicitly calls violent campaigns against Somaliland and collaborates with terrorists groups: NSUM and Alshabaab. That is, his proposed maritime embargo barley conceals his nefarious plot.
To feign knowledge of the geopolitics of East Africa and its history may have entertained Dr. Megalommatis for awhile but now much of his diabolical traps camouflaged as sources from a "pundit" run its course. His argument is full of guile. A man of his calibre should know better it is not how much you rumble, but how many facts you bring to the table that sell your point. Reading his rants will leave an indelible impression on your mind.
As for solution to piracy: rebuild Somaliland/Somalia navies, train and provide fishing equipments to devastated Somaliland/Somalia coastal communities, as well as curtail illegal fishing incursions and toxic waste dumps—the real piracy—into Somaliland/Somalia´s crystal-clear waters and kiss goodbye to chaos on the high seas.
