Dawns light obscures the HPV vaccine debate in the House of Commons.

Christina England
As European elections loom, Ms Dawn Primarolo's position, as Minister of State for the Department of Health is possibly nearing an end, unlike the dreadful adverse reactions suffered by the 9 British girls who have been severely affected by the HPV vaccine Cervarix, that she has authorised to be used in this country against Cervical Cancer. A few days ago MP Crispin Blunt fought bravely against the Minister who is well known for her stubbornness, in a debate in the House of Commons for his constituent Rebecca Ramagge. Ms Dawn Primarolo ,is the same minister who was so stubborn that in the anti-poll tax campaign she refused to pay her own poll tax assessment. At one point just as she was on the verge of being imprisoned for non-payment of the poll tax a well-wisher paid off her debt, or as one reporter remarked and I quote 'Or as the cynics suggested, arranged for some stooge to pay it on her behalf rather than see the inside of HMP Pucklechurch.

Rebecca Ramagge was a young lady who loved sports, regularly playing in open tennis tournaments. She was a very bright young lady, achieving good academic grades and doing very well at school, however, since the HPV vaccine Cervarix, she has been crippled by chronic fatigue syndrome, she is unable to attend school regularly and now needs help with basic tasks such as walking and eating because she is so exhausted with the huge amounts of muscular and joint pain she suffers. Her consultant Dr Jawaad at the East Surrey hospital says that her symptoms are highly consistent with a reaction to the vaccine. Mr Blunt pointed out to the House that JABS (Justice Awareness and Basic Support) have 9 girls registered with them, all suffering from severe adverse reactions to this vaccine and he felt that the mere fact that their symptoms were so similar suggests there is a link to the vaccine.

"First, it is notoriously difficult to establish firm medical proof of a causal link between a vaccine and severe medical conditions previously unrecognised as side effects, but when a group of healthy teenagers suddenly begins to exhibit similar debilitating symptoms shortly after receiving the same vaccine, it is surely only sensible provisionally to conclude, even in the absence of concrete proof, that the common factor in all of the cases—the vaccine—is the likely cause."

Mr Blunt carried on with his firm delivery by adding the following:-

"A solicitor who specialises in representing vaccine victims is representing six girls who are suing the makers of the vaccine, GlaxoSmithKline, under the Consumer Protection Act 1987. Yesterday however, the Minister gave me a parliamentary answer that included the following:

To date almost one million doses of Cervarix have been given in the UK and there is no evidence to suggest that Cervarix vaccine has caused chronic fatigue syndrome, paralytic disorders or any other serious or long-term side effects."—[ Official Report, 12 May 2009; Vol. 492, c. 706W.]"

He went on to highlight particular cases that various MP's had brought to his attention and highlighted the case that I have previously written about by saying:-

"I was particularly disturbed to hear from the hon. Member for Bootle (Mr. Benton) about the case of a girl who collapsed in pain hours after having the Cervarix jab in school. She has been in hospital ever since. The hospital has carried out a number of tests, but has so far been unable to establish the cause of her condition. Instead of exhausting the tests available to it by carrying out the hair trace test requested by the girl´s family—who have been told they will have to pay for it privately—it has concluded that the condition is all in the girl´s mind, a result of mental abuse by her mother who, convinced that her daughter has reacted badly to the vaccine, is projecting her conviction on to her daughter. I am told that it is now proposing to take this girl into care, but, in light of Rebecca Ramagge´s experience, I am concerned that medical professionals have resorted to accusing members of this family of suffering from psychiatric disorders while not being prepared to test thesis this exhaustively"

Since this debate, this family's situation has worsened and this child who is known to me is being admitted to a psychiatric hospital. So convinced are the medical professionals in her case that the vaccines are safe, that they say that this child is not in pain and can walk, she instead has been labelled as 'mentally ill'. Her mother tells me that she has been told that if she does not agree, the social services will take her child into care blaming her for abusing her by encouraging the belief that she is ill and put her there anyway. This is bureaucracy at it's best and a totally outrageous thing to do to a young girl. It will affect the rest of her life. Having this on her medical notes and files means that at any time, it can be raised. If she wishes to go to university, if she applies for a job, if she ever wishes to emigrate, issues of her mental health may be raised at any time and if she later wishes to have her own children, she may find herself in the situation that Fran Lyon found herself in, in 2007. In Fran's case because there were mental health issues recorded in her medical records, from when she was a child, social services were going to take her baby away at birth for fear she may harm her.

Of course this kind of tactical manoeuvre, has fast become commonplace, when medical professionals are faced with cases involving vaccine damage, these issues were first raised by the professional Lisa Blakemore-Brown in the 1990's when she had growing fears that parents were being falsely accused of harming or causing their children's disabilities when their children were vaccine damaged. She has stated very recently in her article THE POLITICS AND COMMERCE OF AUTISM Curves and Swerves Tricks used by Professor Baron-Cohen and the British government to avoid what is staring them in the face in autism.

"Over the last few years, given the frightening epidemic of autism and the appalling suffering of so many, I have been bewildered by the choice of research undertaken by those who have been able to get funding from the UK Government. It has become increasingly obvious that the elephant in the room – vaccines linked to autism, cot death and other conditions – is being ignored as are those who have suffered, unless of course they are blamed. Blame theories (such as Münchhausen by Proxy) form another elephant that people have turned a blind eye to and if you read this article you will see that MSBP is intertwined with vaccines issues."

Of course she is quite right but sadly Mr Blunt must be new to the games the medical professionals play when caught in the headlights like the scared rabbits they are. He obviously does not know that this is a common tactic in the board game called 'Parent Trap' which is very similar to the game 'Mouse Trap' and is something frequently used to avoid the issue of adverse reactions to vaccines. In the doctors version of the game when a parent insists that their child has been damaged by vaccines they build a series of elaborate hurdles that the parent has to negotiate to keep their child, however, should they not play to their rules and not succeed through the obstacle course they lay down, the trap falls and they are reported to social services for abuse.

Mr Blunt hoped that his constituent´s experience will provoke a reassessment of all the cases He said that unless further proof emerges of another common factor between the affected girls causing their condition, then surely the only responsible course of action is to admit that the vaccine may have undesirable side effects for some girls and to ensure that the public are aware of the risk, however small, they are taking when choosing to have the vaccine. Of course in reality this is not possible, as to do this it would undermine the public's confidence in the vaccines and that would never do.

Mr Blunt came to this conclusion after only knowing about his constituent for 12 days. The USA have been trying to point this out with the vaccine Gardasil since 2006 and are still failing miserably. What does it take to convince these idiots that call themselves 'The Governments' of our countries? Surely it is not, to coin a phrase 'Rocket Science' although sometimes I think an air fix model of a rocket, may prove too difficult for some Governments, let alone a real one.

In his argument Mr Blunt criticised the way that children received vaccinations at school, he felt the doctors surgery was a far safer environment and recommended this. He also criticised the NHS literature on adverse reactions to Cervarix, saying that to make an informed choice about the vaccine, parents need the full facts accusing the NHS of being simplistic and possibly irresponsible in the facts they give.

He named the MHRA Yellow card reporting system in the GB as weak. saying that a managing director of a pharmaceutical company had called it 'one of the weakest in Europe'. He urged the minister to make changes by asking "Does the Government have any plans to strengthen the current system and make it fit for purpose?"

Mr Blunt concluded by saying:-

"The Government has so far been determined to push on with this blanket vaccination programme while paying little heed to the serious concerns raised about the safety of the vaccine, the quality of information readily available to those considering the treatment and the possibility that promoting alternative preventive measures may be a more suitable and less risky path for some girls. I would be grateful to hear from the Minister that the Government will not continue down this incautious path based on the alarming and inaccurate information given in the parliamentary answer to me yesterday, but will take account of the experiences of my constituent and those of other hon. Members."

Of course Ms Dawn Primarolo was true to form and danced to the tune of drug company Glaxo Smith Kline after weakly wishing the countries Cervarix victims a full and speedy recovery, beginning:-

"I shall start by sounding a caution. When we debate sensitive issues such as this, it is important to deal with the science, not the supposition, and with the evidence, not the hearsay or opinion.

(One has to wonder about how much scientific evidence this lady needs because even when presented with it she doesn't get the message.) We should not be swayed by the lurid way in which HPV and its vaccine are sometimes portrayed in the media. We have played this game before with the MMR scare and many areas are now paying the price in an explosion in measles and mumps cases because not enough families have taken up the vaccine. I want to take this opportunity to address head on the suggestions that the HPV vaccine is not safe."

Her whole argument was delivered with an overtone of superiority bordering on in my opinion sarcasm. It did not address all the issues raised but seemed to hinge on the 400 lives that this vaccine would save rather than the victims of the severe adverse reactions and their families. Her statistics were inaccurate which I found amusing given that Ms Primarolo was once a financial secretary

"There is a clear need to keep a watching brief, and we are continually monitoring safety so that we can quickly identify any new side-effects that might emerge. I completely reject the hon. Gentleman´s proposition that somehow our regulatory and monitoring system is weak or substandard—it is one of the best. Every week, the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency publishes online analysis of all suspected side-effects reported through its yellow card scheme. We know that almost 1,700 suspected side-effects have been reported since the immunisation programme was first introduced, but those figures come with a caveat. That is not my personal view as an individual; it is based on the scientific evidence and advice we are given.

The figures do not necessarily mean that the vaccine caused the medical condition, only that the reporter suspected it might have. On investigation, we find that 90 per cent. of those reports—to put it into perspective, that is about 1,500 reported cases out of 1 million, or 0.0015 per cent. of total vaccines administered—either relate to the known side-effects that I have already mentioned, or they were psychogenic events: that is, symptoms linked to a fear or anticipation of the needle injection. Those psychogenic events cover a number of girls who fainted after the injection, which is a known response to all needle-based vaccinations and is running at a rate that is in line with what experts would expect.

In the remaining 10 per cent. of cases—let us remember that we are talking about 0.00017 per cent. of the total vaccines—there is good reason to think that the reported symptoms were associated with an underlying condition or illness that the person was suffering from at the time they had their vaccination."

Of course I am sure the incorrect calculations will be put down to a 'typo error'!

Please note where Ms Primarolo says "there is good reason to think that the reported symptoms were associated with an underlying condition or illness that the person was suffering from at the time they had their vaccination." I would like to ask her personally if this is the case, should these girls have had the vaccine? The young girl who is being kindly admitted into the psychiatric unit, actually has Noonans Syndrome, a heart condition and a possible lowered immune system, should she have had this vaccine? Did anyone check with medical officials in this case? In the GP advert that the public has never seen GSK state in their ever so tiny print 'no data on the use of Cervarix in subjects with a lowered immune responsiveness.' Dr Diane Harper who was involved in the vaccine trials of Cervarix and Gardasil confirmed that Gardasil may have been the catalyst that set off the ALS disease which a young girl called Jenny from America died of. So it is now very possible, if we are to believe the Minister, that "underlying" conditions could be the reason why our young girls in the UK have become so ill, this has been further backed up by the Health Minister herself.

Of course Ms Primarolo has stated on many occasions this being one of them that she cannot comment on individual cases. This standard 'get out clause' wears thin when we are discussing the lives of the children of this country. She needs to address individual cases if she ever wants to get a full picture. She needs to remove her rose tinted lenses especially if she wants our vote of confidence in the forthcoming elections. Each and every Rebecca Ramagge, Ashleigh Cave and Hattie Vickory are children who lives have been destroyed by a vaccine that she has endorsed as being safe.

I will close with adding an article by a friend of mine entitled HPV Vaccine, How we got here Top HPV-Vaccine Researchers Join Those Advising Caution in HPV-Vaccines Gardasil and Cervarix Immunization.

I have an interest in Human Right issues, especially the rights of the disabled and the elderly.

I wish to expose the new evidence that is being uncovered surrounding vaccines.

Many vaccines have been proven to have serious adverse reactions that have been found to cause, Autism, ADHD and other neurological and physical disorders.

I believe that all parents have the right to the information often hidden by the pharmaceutical industries about what vaccines contain and the often devastating side effects that these vaccines have been found to cause.

It is only when a parent has the full facts that they can make a fully informed choice as to whether they wish to have their child vaccinated or not.

Parents also need to know that there are other choices open to them like single vaccines, mercury free vaccines, homeopathic vaccines and diets to boost the immune system to promote good healthy living.

Our children must not become human pin cushions or profit making machines, they are precious and they are ours.
