Somali Community Organizations In The U.S. Calls On Fellow Somalis To Denounce Act Of Supporting Ter
The Leaders of the Somali community organizations, Citizens and Friends of Somalia in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Mr. Mahdi Haile is calling on all Somalis in every part of the world to strongly denounce and condemn the ugly acts of aiding and abetting terrorists of Al Qaida and Eritrean Government Intervention in Somalia, if the intensive story published in the internet websites and newspaper about a three days ago is true.
Mr. Mahdi made this call over the weekend (Sunday,) when he and other newly elected officials of CSSU and other organizations were being inducted into office during a an elaborate ceremony held at the Minneapolis University palace in Minneapolis.
Mr. Mahdi further appealed to the gathering to please pray for Somalia. and denounced Eritrea being aligned to Alqaida operatives. He said whether it is true or not, it is a bad situation for Somalia. "I don´t think and believe that we should have a country like Eritrea that are involved in terrorist activities", he cried out.
The Somali community leaders then noted that "if this intensive information from the Eritrea is true, then we should stand ready to strongly denounce this ugly act. Our people in Somalia are already suffering and going through carnage. I don´t think they are prepared to undergo any more sufferings".
Earlier laying out the platform of his new officers and directors, Mr. Mahdi Haile informed the gathering which comprised of Somalis, Eritrean in Diaspora and other friends of Somalia, that in a couple of days his administration will host a one-day workshop at which time a-3-year plan of action and a one year budget for the organization will be formulated. He said CSSU wants to become a real NGO that will have strong presence In Nairobi, Kenya this time.
He revealed that the main goal of his organization is to acquire an office space which will be the National Headquarters of Center For Somali Solutions CSSU will house the After School Tutorial Program for Children, the Old Folks and Refugee Assistance Program for the elderly in the community, the CSSU Immigration Clinic and the Sports and Cultural Programs. The CSSU International will conduct programs in Somalia including peace , human rights and development projects.
Mr. Mahdi then called on all Somalis and friends of Somalia to support CSSU in achieving it goals.
Earlier, the Guest Speaker/Installing Officer, Mr. Ray Malachi who is the Director of United Way Gifts in Kind and Combined Federal Campaign, praised CSSU for its many works in the community during its 5years of existence.
He said United Way of the Minnesota is always ready to work with Somali community and CSSU in achieving its goals.
Those inducted into office were members of the Board of Directors of CSSU, which included Abdirahman Sharaf , Abdinasir Ali, Amal Mohamed Abdi Ugas , James Gray.
During its 5years of existence, CSSU has made gracious donations to the National Red Cross, Salvation Army, NAACP, Several Hospitals in Somalia Hawa Abdi Displaced Camp in Mogadishu , five orphanages in Somalia , among others.
