Republicanism and Relevancy
Mitt Romney, Bobby Jindal, Sarah Palin, John McCain, Eric Cantor, and Newt Gringrich have formed a counsel for a "New America." I´m afraid they´re trying to bail out the Titanic with two-gallon buckets. It´s unfortunate they have a misguided goal, to create a new America, which already has been created. The election of the brilliant Afro-American from Illinois is their wake-up call. A new America has been born. It was born on January 20th of 2009.
It is apparent that the old order of bigotry, racism, and conservative Christian politics is dying. To cement this idea Texas and Georgia have proved that the order of old prejudices and discrimination doesn´t die easily. Apparently a great block of citizens from those states want to secede from the Union, the very Union their Republican Father, Abraham Lincoln pleaded to save. There is no doubt if the sixteenth president were living today he would hold his head in shame.
Ostructionism has reared its ugly head in the likes of Michelle Bachman. Her recent statement of slander stating that, absurdly so I might add, "the Democrats brought the flu to the United States…[sic]. Congresswoman Bachman is no doubt from the Twilight Zone and has not escaped. Mitt Romney stating the U.S. is on the edge of being a monarchy is another example of Republican isolation from the world of reality. Glenn Beck from Fox News is so obsessed with socialism and communism that he is starting to look a great deal like Joe McCarthy. He sounds like the dying moans of a soon-to-be extinct elephant, the Republican Party.
Is McCarthyism on its way again? You may be familiar with Joe McCarthy, Republican Senator from Wisconsin. He was obsessed with communism and dragged every movie star, CEO, and anyone else who disagreed with government policies, to the Senate floor and humiliated them before the world with threats of discipline and exportation. Joe ended up being censured by the Senate for his outrageous behavior. Believe me, censure is seldom used, only in extreme cases.
Have we become a nation of haters, dividers, obstructionists, and liars? Conservative television moguls decided to have a tea party. Now they claim tea parties will be held throughout the year to protest…what? Why didn´t the conservatives come out of their closets and hold tea parties when George Bush spent billions for…what? Why didn´t we have tea parties when the Bush administration lied to us about Iraq? Where were those tea parties when conservatives learned their president approved torture tactics?
Remember if you will, "united we stand, divided we fall." Perhaps some of our southern friends have forgotten the idea. Children don´t want to play games if they are losing. Republicans lost and now they don´t want to play. They´d rather slander and bring out their white-hooded wardrobe.
