The Power of Our Testimony

In a courtroom, testimony is given by witnesses. Those witnesses tell the story of what happened and what they know as they experienced it. They tell a story that they believe is true, and they testify in order to help others understand what happened. As Christians, we have a testimony of our own to give – the story of the power of God´s love and the miracles He has worked in your lives.
But how many of us actually take the time to witness to others? When is the last time you gave your testimony about God´s presence in your life? You should tell your story whenever the opportunity presents itself because it will give God the Glory He deserves and it will encourage and inspire those who hear it.
The power of individual testimony shouldn´t be underestimated. If a friend or co-worker is having a rough time, take the time to listen and give them a shoulder to cry on. But don´t stop there – let them know you are praying for them and that God loves them. When others see that your life is blessed by confidence, love and God´s presence, they will want to know more.
You can give your testimony a number of ways. You can tell your story, dividing it into "BC," for Before Christ´s presence and "AC," for after Christ entered your life. Reveal your feelings of hopelessness and loneliness before Christ entered your heart, then talk about the fulfillment, strength and sense of purpose you´ve discovered with God.
Think back on what you have shared with your friends and family in the past months. Have you told others about a good book you enjoyed? A great movie that you encourage them to see? How often have you talked about your relationship with God? Probably not much, which is a shame. After all, we know what is important in someone´s life by what they talk about.
Your uncle talks constantly about his passion for vintage cars, your best friend talks a lot about her fiancé, and your sister loves chatting about shopping. Yet how often do we talk about the God we love and who loves us? If you love God, talk about Him! Share the good news with others around you!
Every time we testify to God´s grace and love, we are opening up an opportunity for others to discover God. And with God´s love bringing us joy and peace, we are increasing our own happiness by sharing it. Showing God´s love to others is contagious – the more we share, the more others will receive and it will be passed on. What a wonderful way to praise the Lord! Let your light as God´s child shine in both word and deed.
"You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on a stand and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven."
Matthew 5:13-16
So the next time you are talking to others about what is important in your life, don´t forget to give God the glory He deserves. You will not only please Him, you may open a door for someone else to explore the Lord´s blessings. The power of your testimony may be what brings a lost and hurting soul to God. There is no greater thanks you can give Him than this, because He´s seeking his lost sheep even today.
"I have other sheep who are not of this sheep pen. I must bring them also. They too will hear my voice, and there shall be one flock and one shepherd."
John 10:16
