Sedona Arizona | Lifestyle and Real Estate
Geology: The red rock formations of Sedona are at once visually stunning and emotionally stirring. You feel a celebration and the sense of the sacred. Some visitors see the red rocks as the cathedrals of nature. The locals refer to it as "Red Rock Fever". Its symptoms are an overwhelming sense of tranquility. Your whirling mind seems to slowdown. Colors appear more vibrant. The air smells a bit sweeter. You seem to notice the world around through a different lens -- the lens of the natural world. You are more attuned to the sounds of nature and less to the sounds of man.
Vortex Energy: Much is written about the "energies" of Sedona. Early Native Americans of the Sinagua tribe settled in the Sedona area. Evidence of cave dwellings together with tools and pottery have been found. It is said that they considered the Sedona area sacred. Reporters from big-city newpapers and travel magazines frequently visit Sedona to experience these energies and write about them. Their reports vary greatly, but each concludes that Sedona does evoke "feelings" in them if only for the scenic beauty.
Climate: Low-humidity and moderate winter temperatures mark Sedona's climate. High-plateau desert is the topological description for Sedona at an elevation of 4,500 feet. The four-seasons are fully experienced in Sedona with light-snow in the winter. The summer brings hot-temperatures that can exceed 100-degrees on occasion, but the summer evenings always cool. As the prevailing winds shift during mid-to-late summer, moisture is carried from the south and the "monsoons" result in brief thunderstorms with heavy short-duration rains. For most of the year, you will find yourself enjoying the 300-days of annual sunshine.
Community: Friendly people seem to be attracted to Sedona. In the grocery store, in the post office, in the restaurants, or on the hiking trail, people seem to be smiling. The city-edge seems to have been stripped-away at the Sedona City Limits sign. This happens typically with people on vacation, but the people that live in Sedona seem to be perpetually happy!
Real Estate: Aside from the families that live and work in Sedona, Sedona is attractive to retirees and second-home owners. Prices range from $125,000 to over $5-million. The median selling price of a single-family home was approximately $425,000 for the first-quarter of 2009. As with many of the real estate markets around the country at this time, there are more sellers than there are buyers. It is presently a good time to purchase in Sedona with the ability to negotiate a favorable price. This has not historically been the case in Sedona.
