The Leaf Boat

Mike Catherall
Cindy Gooseberrybush was a fairy princess with a pointy little nose and the tiniest little wings that she kept tucked up under her dress. She kept them tucked up there because she didn´t like to fly much. Others would tease her about her wings and she would say, 0You go fly around silly people, and let´s see you get all dizzy, hmmph!" And she would stick up her nose some more.

But the truth is that she was scared to fly. But she wanted adventures. So she got herself a leaf boat instead.

After over three years of writing columns for American Chronicle, I am happy to say that I have branched out into other forms of writing.

I have recently published my first children´s book: The Leaf Boat.

It is a story I wrote for my fiancée, over two years ago. Since then I have joined forces with the extraordinary artist, Rachel Smith, and she has provided the colourful illustrations. Now after a year of collaboration, it is ready.

If you would like to read the Leaf Boat, it is available online at

I published it using a self-publishing site called Blurb. It´s a good system if you have the will to write (and publish) but not the money or connections. Blurb does not charge any money upfront, they simply take a cut of every book you sell.

For now, the prices are rather high when you factor in their costs, however, it is more economical if you buy a large order.

To read about the ongoing adventures of Cindy Gooseberrybush, you can also visit her website at The Leaf Boat Website. (It will be online in June.)

Happy reading!
