COLORADO GOVERNOR DECLARES MAY 2009 AS MULTIPLE CHEMICAL SENSITIVITY AND TI AWARENESS MONTH

Christiane Tourtet B.A.
Colorado Governor Bill Ritter, Jr. signed a proclamation declaring May 2009 as Multiple Chemical Sensitivity and Toxic Injury Awareness Month.

In his proclamation the Governor states that Multiple Chemical Sensitivity (MCS) and Toxic Injury affect people of all ages, ethnicities, cultures, and religions, and that MCS and toxic injury are often characterized by heightened sensitivity to minute amounts of air pollution, petrochemicals, and other toxins, that MCS and toxic injury are chronic conditions for which there are no known cures.

The Governor, also states, that raising awareness to educate citizens of the dangers of MCS and toxic injury is one of the many ways to battle the devastating effects of this chronic incurable condition, and that the State of Colorado recognizes those who suffer from MCS or toxic injury, and acknowledges these victims deserve the same rights, respect, and support allotted for those with other illnesses and disabilities.

Multiple Chemical Sensitivity (MCS) is a devastating and terrible worldwide epidemic, increasing daily at a frightening rate. MCS is an environmental illness, triggered by exposures to toxic chemicals in the environment, and is the direct consequence of global pollution. An estimated 16% of the US population suffers from MCS, and MCS has spread to USA, France, Canada, Germany, Italy, Spain, United Kingdom, Australia, Denmark, Sweden, Switzerland, Finland, Norway, Brazil, China, Japan, Pakistan, India, and many more countries.

Multiple Chemical Sensitivity (MCS) is included in the National Health Observance Calendar, from the Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion, U.S. Department of Health and Services, as Multiple Chemical Sensitivity (MCS) Awareness Month 2009.
