FLORIDA GOVERNOR DECLARES MAY 2009 AS MULTIPLE CHEMICAL SENSITIVITY ( MCS) AWARENESS MONTH
Multiple Chemical Sensitivity (MCS) is a painful chronic condition of hypersensitivity reactions to the environment for which there is no cure. The symptoms of Multiple Chemical Sensitivity (MCS) include acute reactions to chemicals, food and medication, as well as severe neurological problems, muscle and joint pains, memory and respiratory difficulties.
The Governor also states that the health of the general population is at risk from chemical exposures that can lead to this environmentally induced illness, and that this illness
may be preventable through the reduction or avoidance of chemicals in the air, water, food in both indoor and outdoor environments and by conducting further scientific research.
Multiple Chemical Sensitivity (MCS) is also included in the National Health Observance Calendar, from the Office of Disease Prevention and Health promotion, U.S. Department of Health and Services, as Multiple Chemical Sensitivity (MCS) Awareness Month 2009.
