Macedonian Newspapers (Publications)

In a time of intense national conflict, both newspapers chose their respective names so as to promote their Greek identity and culture. After 1912, and above all in the interwar years, the daily and periodical press flourished in the new provinces (such as Macedonia) of the Greek state.
Every Macedonian (Greek) town and every political group that could bear the financial cost wanted to be heard; it is then no coincidence that an impressive number of publications defined themselves as ´Macedonian´. There were also numerous regular columns and feuilletons under the ´Macedonian´ name, which dealt with local issues.
The following collection of Macedonian newspapers is proof that the region of Macedonia has been Greek (not only in Ancient times), but even under Ottoman rule i.e. in the last few centuries. The confused population of FYROM despise this the most, as it completely shatters their misguided illusions that "Macedonia was a term forbidden in Greece" prior to 1988. Contrarily, Macedonian newspapers were in use from 19th cent. even prior to the invention of the Skopjan fictitious "nationality"!
