And It Was Called, America
I defy anyone to spend two or three generations in this country and not be an American. This isn't simply a place to live, a place to find work. This is a dream. This country is a state of mind. It certainly isn't perfect. Everyone has problems and everyone has their national pride of origin, but you don't see black people running back to Africa and you don't see multi-generational Japanese or Chinese running back to their country of origin and in a couple of generations you won't even hear talk about Mexican/Americans running back to Mexico. Sure they will be proud of their country of origin but they will even be prouder of what they were able to accomplish in this country, their New Home.
But that's the way it's been done throughout history. Generate fear and get the under classes fighting one another and they will never get the big picture and they will leave the wealthy alone. It worked in ancient Rome and it still works today. It worked in Sadam's Iraq and it is beginning to work here. And it will get worse. The trick is to get all the "under" classes moving beyond their differences and truly working together. Forget the tribal differences, forget the financial concerns and recall that we are all of one spirit. Our job is "To create a more perfect union." Right here. Right now. This has always been the dream of humankind since the beginning and once it was a reality and people around the world would speak about it to one another in quiet whispers over late night fires and it was called?AMERICA!
